I listened to the Audible version of this story and loved it. I agree wholeheartedly that it is a lighthearted and sweet story.
I seem to be in the minority, but I really couldn't get on board with this one. I loved Eleanor and Park but this one seemed a little unbelievable to me. Plus I would be so creeped out if someone read my emails.
agreed, the email thing was a little creepy. I kept trying to put myself in her shoes to see how I would react; I'm not sure if I would react the same way, but the author did try to justify it a bit by having her stalk him a little bit too. it's never as creepy when the woman follows the guy.

Meanwhile, Lincoln O'Neill can't believe this is his job now--reading other people's e-mail. When he applied to be "internet security officer", he pictured himself building firewalls and crushing hackers--not writing up a report every time a sports reporter forwards a dirty joke.
When Lincoln comes across Beth's and Jennifer's messages, he know he should turn them in. But he can't help being entertained--and captivated--by their stories.
By the time Lincoln realizes he's falling for Beth, it's way too late to introduce himself.
What would he say....?
My Thoughts:
This is the type of story that makes you go "awwww" at the end.
This is a story that a reader would absolutely love if they already enjoy romantic comedies from the 80s and 90s, like When Harry Met Sally or Sleepless In Seattle. I'd even throw in The Wedding Singer.
This is the type of story that really should be creepy (e-mail stalker, ewww), but really ends up being super cute.
I have to say, I enjoyed this book a whole lot more than I thought I would. The fact that it took place around Y2K was an unexpected plus (ah the memories of impending doom. I was eleven then, and even I knew that people were freaking out over nothing).
The fact that you can't help but fall in love with each and every character was an even bigger plus. Seriously, it was like a classic romantic comedy in book form; there's nothing about it that you could possibly hate.
I like how you end up rooting for Mr. E-Mail Stalker, which seems wrong on so many levels, especially because it makes it seem like it's all right to stalk someone if you're already good-looking, although I guess he wasn't really intentionally stalking her, he just liked who she was, and fell in love with her as a person, not as an object to possess. Pardon the run-on sentence, but this book is making me debate the issue with myself (another plus: it would make a great book-club read, as well as an awesome movie).
Like I said, this book was pretty darn good. I'm now seriously debating whether or not I should just go ahead and say I loved it. Y'know what, I think I will; I loved it. I want to read it again sometime, and now I really, really want to watch a romantic comedy. I will end this review by saying this is an excellent vacation read (or whenever read). It's light-hearted, sweet, and just I-wanna-go-"awwww" loveable. Go ahead and give it a shot.
...Now where is that blasted remote?
