♥ Emily ♥   (emily_turtle) | 36 comments All of my finished poems:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The beautiful sky
The stars that refuse to die
While we wonder why.
The lit crescent moon
It'll vanish sometime soon
Birds will sing their tune
The sun's blinding light
Chasing away the dark night
A marvelous fight
Sunset and Sunrise
The moon and sun's slow demise
Neither truly dies
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Her fingers flew across the keys
She bled into the piano her memories
For once she had no worries, she could finally forget
As she played half of a duet

He could hear from out the door
The song was beautiful but it meant more
He wove his words among each note
And created a place where he could just float

She heard his voice and her heart skipped a beat
He made all her imperfections smooth and neat
He'd held her close to his heart all along
Had loved and hated her but still sang their song

Maybe what used to be can't be again
Maybe they couldn't recreate how they had once been
The general's daughter and the disobedient slave's love
But they still fit together like fingers in a glove

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
How could he?
Angry was all she would be.
A fire to her gaze.
Her realization an escaped maze.
She saw him clearly.
He had hurt the friend she loved so dearly.
He would pay.
She'd find some way.
A trap to lay.
A game to play.
How best to punish him?
She'd be sure not to act on just a whim.
She'd have her payback.
Her anger as stinging as a whack.
He had played her friend like a game.
Maybe she'd do the same.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Feeling so far away
Lost in a sea of thoughts
Wondering why she'd had to stray
Swarmed with regret
At least she could say
That she'd gone down fighting
And now she'd been left to lay
In the meadow she'd loved
When the flowers bloomed in May
And when the dewdrops kissed the petals

Sooner or later
She'd be forgotten
Each day she'd come closer and closer
To ending this way
Maybe if she'd be wiser
Maybe she would've lived
At least she could relive each Spring shower
In the Meadow she loved so dearly
But then she hadn't had the power
So she'd lay in her meadow for all of eternity

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He ran again through all her lies
He pictured her glassy eyes
She wished she had told him the truth from the start
She wished she hadn't kept up the act that shattered her heart
He wished he could piece her back together again
He knew it couldn't be the same as it was then
She'd made so many grave mistakes
She'd played her precious game for the highest stakes
He could still hear of phantom of the sounds they'd made together
They'd be the ringtone of his thoughts forever
She'd felt the strings of fate pull so many times
But it seems the strings of fate snap sometimes
He'd lose his country but that couldn't compare
To the loss of the girl with the gold-spun hair
She had lost her beloved father's trust
Doing everything she thought she must
Maybe this was how it was meant to be
Him escaping by the sea
Her locked away in a prison wagon
With her fox's mind and the heart of a dragon
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

How could something so wrong feel so right?
Just another wave in her sea of confusion
This moment could only last for tonight
And then she'd be left alone to swim in that vast ocean

Maybe accepting someone else's idea of honor isn't right
And maybe people in the light can't see into the dark
Maybe they weren't meant to win this fight
One of these arrows would have to hit its mark

They'd stormed in like a sudden night
They'd brought explosions and chaos
The day had lost all its light
The odds became a dice toss

She'd thought he'd been lost
To the mighty explosion
She thought that must be the cost
And a tsunami rippled through her confusion

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A story to be told,
She couldn't remember how old,
She told it to herself each night,
When she remembered everything she'd lost in the fight
A beautiful lady who lives in a tower
She has all she could need, she has mighty power
But she keeps her heart in a porcelain box
One night a thief slips in, clever as a fox
The thief leaves her sleeping
And runs with the box he plans on keeping
But he doesn't know what he holds in his hands
But the lady knows, and she's angry enough to shake the lands
But when she finds him frightened in a cave
She chooses, maybe her heart was something she gave
Perhaps he could keep it there
For the lady certainly could share
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

How do we know what is right and wrong?
Why do we never question?
We just nod our heads and move along.

How do we know who to believe?
Who lies and who tells the truth?
Maybe like this we're too easy to deceive.

Why don't we just think fully for ourselves?
Why don't we just act like us?
We just blend in like nondescript books on shelves.

Why don't we make the best of each other's quirks?
Why do we encourage uniqueness, but then fight it?
I guess we've just decided this works.

A Mother's Touch
Just a mother's touch,
From fingers slim and slender.
Paler than the moon,
Yet warmer than the sun.
Just a mother's touch,
Bringing comfort with the thought,
She brings with it an abundance,
Of comfort and of joy,
Cooling the hottest of fevers.
With just her motherly touch.
A small touch of comfort,
A small touch of joy,
All conveyed in a mother's touch.
Always there guiding you,
Leading by her hand
Gathered to support you,
Amongst the breaks of dawn.
Just my mother's touch.

Cailine
A baby waits in a far away land,
The red thread is still a tangled strand.
Known just by sight and not be touch,
Still we love her very much.
We long for the day that it becomes clear,
When and where we will get her,
And bring her near.
She is a baby waiting in a far away land,
We are just yearning to hold her hand.
Waiting, waiting across the sea,
Unknown to her that she has a family.
A family that loves her,
A family that cares,
A family that is waiting to hold her by the hand,
And pick her up, and rock her to sleep,
She is just waiting, in a faraway land.

An Angel
She is an angel in disguise,
Sent from God above,
Made to hear the children's cries,
Of hopes and dreams for loved ones.
She believes in miracles,
And made so many come true.
She sent us to our families,
Where truly we are loved.
An angel in disguise,
Sent from God above.
She made our dreams come true,
Ones of families and love.
This angel is here on Earth with us,
Keeping dreams alive,
This angel brought me here to you,
A miracle come true.

"Focusing on the Future"
Life is a chance, an opportunity, and a gift.
Don't dwell in the past,
Don't fear the present,
Focus on the future.
Be the one to save life,
Be the one to take the first step,
Be the one to focus on the future.
Take the extra mile to remake, reuse, and recycle.
Save the world a little bit at a time.
Life is a chance, an opportunity, and a gift.

Have you ever wondered?
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be ignored?
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be heard?
Have you ever wondered what it's like to be an example?
Have you ever wondered what it's like to lead?
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be looked at?
Have you ever wondered what it's like to be a shadow?
Have you ever wondered what it's like to be known?
Have you ever wondered what it's like to be forgotten?
Have you?
You know only what it's like to be one of those things.
You can't be all
You can't be none
Can you?
What happened when you chose one thing?
What happened when you took one path?
What happened when you decided to lead?
What happened when you decided to follow?
Do you know what it's like to lead?
Do you know what it's like to follow?
Did you lead?
Did you follow?
What if I did, what if I didn't
Does that define who I am?
Does that make me different, the same?
Why do my actions make me, me?
Shouldn't being me make me who I am?
Shouldn't speaking my mind make me, me?
What if I have wondered?
What if I still do?
Have you ever wondered what it's like to bear the world upon your shoulders?
Have you ever wondered what it's like to lift the sky?
Have you ever wondered what's in store for you?
Have you ever been lifted?
Have you ever lifted?
If living means dying then should I live?
But if dying means living then should I die?
Is ignorance bliss?
Or is knowledge bliss?
Would you change your past for a better future?
Would you change your future for a better past?
Would you ask or would you answer?
Do I let people effect my decisions?
Do I effect other's decisions?
Does being me mean knowing me?
Does knowing me mean being me?
Should I be me just to be scorned?
Should I be someone else to be loved?
Should I answer or question?
If I live will someone else die?
If I die will someone else live?
If there's a consequence for everything what's mine?
What's the consequence for living?
What's the consequence for dying?
If I'm the first to see the sun rise, will I be the last to see the sun fall?
If a circle never ends where does it start?
If we never wondered where would we be?
Have you ever wondered?

Life
Deep in the mountains, alive in the sea,
What brings out the best of you and me is
Hidden in the mountains concealing the lake,
Underground, over sky
Amongst the wings of the plain.
Burrowed in the mines, on the edge of the earth
Over wind, under stone
Through the valley it goes.
Chased through the woods, caught in the sky.
Heated by lava, cooled by lies.
Beaten by the stone, drowned in the sea,
Always there, never seen.
Alive then dead and alive once again.
Forever it lies in the deeps of the skies,
For it is alive.

Together Forever
Bright as the sun and calm as the sea,
She stands in the light, alone with me
The deserted beach with its setting sun
Outlines the silhouette of us and all to come
Mother and daughter alone with each other
Dancing together, barefoot in the sand
A brisk breeze whips around the corner,
Pulling with it, secrets and whispers,
We are together forever.

God's Painting
Spotted white in a pastel pallet,
Strokes of color filled with love,
Bright sea, calm shore,
In a moment then no more.
Like a Phoenix and its ashes,
Fire of light at the end of life,
Risen again just once more.
Peace, quiet harmony.
A note of light rose streaks the canvas,
Ocean blues line the edges,
Burns bright in the noon sky.
Fades to warmth, then to cold,
Risen just once more.
Life, calm, hope.
Flame and fire rise, ascend,
Pallet full brushes over.
Rise again, just once more.

Sunrise
Fading, fading,
Beams of light,
A new beginning, a new sunrise.
Yellow to gold
To pink to orange,
Creeps of color beaming bright,
A new beginning, a new sunrise.
White against
A crystal blue,
Faint is the sun
Upon the sky,
A new beginning, a new sunrise.

Dancing
Gentle as the moon.
Graceful as the stars,
Fingers light and caring,
Hair in gentle waves,
Eyes misty like the dawn.
A floating dress accentuates the lively movements made.
A dreamy gaze towards the horizon.
A spin, a twirl a pirouette.
Gentle as the moon,
Graceful as the stars.

Muddled Mind
A lone tear streaks down,
Sparkling like the jewel on a crown.
A saddened heart, a muddled mind,
Just looking to find
A family and love.
A saddened heart and a muddled mind.
Confused on where to look,
Perhaps across the brook,
And over the sea
And beyond the shore
Where she might find a family,
Just once more.

Meiline
Just a girl in a far away land,
And the red thread is still just a tangled strand.
She's searching for a family to hold her dear,
And for a mother to wipe away any stray tears.
Each tear holds hopes and dreams,
And as the moonlit sky beams,
Somewhere, far away, her hopes and dreams are destined to come free.
The child's dream has come alive,
A family has arrived.
A mother and four sisters to hold her dear,
And a mother to wipe away any stray tears.

♥ Emily ♥   (emily_turtle) | 36 comments Shards flying
People crying
Something broken
Panicked words spoken

Shattered glass
Slowly time will pass
A pained yelp
Rushing to help

Blood dripping
The world tipping
Dizziness taking control
The floor begins to roll

Can't see
Everything's blurry
Looking around
Can't hear a sound

Stumbling around
Falling to the ground
Heads turning
Stomach churning

Vision blackening
Dull hearing
Too quick to comprehend
The glass they begin to mend

The Feline Felon (bookfeline) Deep deep down the weeds grow, I swim but don't know. I dive and say "Oh no i swim in this?." I shriek but that just attracts the fish who nibble on my toes.

♥ Emily ♥ (emily_turtle) | 36 comments I'm still working on this, but this is what I've got so far:

She was in a glittering ballroom.
It was bright,
Not an ounce of gloom.
As she danced through the night.

Her eyes alight with the joy
of being young and free.
Up on the balcony stood a boy,
Going to her, he said, "Who might you be?"

"I am dust, and wind. I have no name,
I am the darkness when the sun doesn't shine,"
She was wildfire, not the least bit tame.
He said, "So for a dance or two, let me call you Mine,"

♥ Emily ♥ (emily_turtle) | 36 comments This one is dedicated to all of you:

A wondrous creation
It doesn’t warrant explanation
Created by a mind, so beautiful, so smart
Made for art

A soul made for learning
A heart full of yearning
Always making,
The world’s theirs for the taking

They’re made to dance in the rain
With beauty they can’t contain
It comes from inside,
Where the best of them hide

Overflowing with color and words,
Meant to fly as high as the birds
They hold the keys to infinite doors,
And when I say "theirs," I mean "yours"
