Reading anything good?
Julie wrote: "I'm reading Spring in Hyde Park. It's three novellas and so far it's fantastic!
"And it has a pretty cover!
I think the Timeless Romance Anthologies always do a great job with covers. I can't think of one I didn't like!
I'm reading
The Spider and the Sparrow by A.L. Sowards, and it's a great book - I just can't seem to find time to read it when I am not way too tired lately.
I like Julie am currently reading and reviewing:
Spring in Hyde Park Timeless Regency Collection
This anthology set of titles has 3 clean secular Georgian/Regency era authors who all are LDS: Jennifer Moore, GG Vandagriff, and Nichole Van.
Plus I am also currently reading and reviewing the last LDS author mentioned above Nichole Van's latest full length novel:
Gladly Beyond
I plan to read next:
Solstice
by LDS author Heather B. Moore/H.B. Moore as Jane Redd
I'm starting The Earl's Betrothal. I actually am supposed to read two books before that one, but it's what I want to read (I'm in the mood for historical romance). Then I'll be reading Proposals and Poison after that (one of the books that I was supposed to read first). :)
A.L. wrote: "Anyone reading anything good? Or is everyone watching the Olympics?"Both. Watching track events right now while I read (during commercials or boring parts for me)
.
Lots of Olympics watching here too, but also reading
by one of my favorite YA LDS authors, Kasie West.
Tressa wrote: "Lots of Olympics watching here too, but also reading

A.L. wrote: "I remember the blurb on that one. It sounded cute! How do you like it so far?"So far I really like it. The heroine is a little different than her others have been, but I like that too. :)
I read three books while on vacation last week, and they were all good (4 or 4.5 stars):
Beauty and the Clockwork Beast by Nancy Campbell Allen
Infected by Gregg Luke
Eleanor and the Iron King by Julie Daines
I just finished To Win A Lady's Heart by Sian Ann Bessey. It's an historical romance with a lot of intrigue. I loved it. Mostly I'm reading Christmas books for my next column and I better get off my computer and get back to reading.
Jennie wrote: "I just finished To Win A Lady's Heart by Sian Ann Bessey. It's an historical romance with a lot of intrigue. I loved it. I listened to one of Sian's books (Within the Dark Hills) on a road trip and I enjoyed that one.
So, what is everyone reading?I started this book with my twins last night:
Fires of Invention by J. Scott Savage. And I'm reading this one and enjoying it so far.
The Darkling Bride by Laura Andersen
I read Fires of Invention last year. I still have the other two to read. Perfect for reading with kids.I have Heidi, The Empty Grave, Side Jobs: Stories from the Dresden Files, Men at Arms, and Eats, Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation going on right now.
I think I bought the first two in the Mysteries of Cove series when they went on sale about the time book 3 was released. I'm excited we're finally getting to them! How do you like Eats, Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation, Audrey? I've head about it, but haven't gotten around to reading it.
I reviewed two books I particularly liked today for Meridian; The Hunter's Son by Gregg Luke and A Song for the Stars by Ilima Todd. I also just finished reading Traci Abramson's terrific new book, Sanctuary. Here's the link to my reviews https://ldsmag.com/lds-fiction-my-per...

I'm Wendy C. Jorgensen, and I write young adult speculative fiction. Julie Berry is amazing, but I haven't read this one yet. I loved All the Truth That's in Me. Hopefully, my book club will vote to read Lovely War this summer. It's on the list!

I hope your book club picks up Lovely War--it would be a good one for a group read with a good variety of things to discuss.
Audrey wrote: "All the Truth That’s in Me was pretty good."Sounds like I really need to read that book!
Lea wrote: "I enjoy Sally Britton's work."I see Sally a lot on facebook and she's so fun and so into the period she writes about. Do you have a favorite of her books?
A.L. wrote: “Audrey wrote: “All the Truth That’s in Me was pretty good.”Sounds like I really need to read that book!”
It was rather intense. Berry did a good job with that.
Audrey wrote: "I finished Brandon Sanderson’s Calamity. Good series."Is that the complete series?
My children and I read the Alcatraz vs the Evil Librarians series last summer, and we're still waiting (not so patiently) for the last book.
Reckoners is complete. The five books of Alcatraz is complete, but there’s going to be a Bastille series.
I just started the Work and the Glory series. Can’t believe I’ve waited so long to read them. I’m the youngest in my family and these books can out when I was very young. But I know my oldest sibling loved them when they came out in the 90’s! I just finished the 3rd book and starting the 4th. They are quite big books but definitely fast reads.

Fun for you to have the whole series to enjoy now for the first time!
Paige wrote: "My daughter gained a testimony of the prophet Joseph Smith reading these books."I'll bet Elder Lund would be thrilled to hear that! I'm sure that's why he wrote the series in the first place.
Just re-read Farewell, Fleeing Repatriation by Barbara Sorensen Fallick. Truly a blockbuster, in the tradition of Michener and Uris. I'm prejudiced: I'm married to the author. Took her ten years to write it! If you like historical novels with an LDS bent, you'll love this book. Includes an afterward detailing what's history and what's fiction. Don't ignore the bibliography; some of those books are dynamite.

I'd jump in and start, but I'm currently reading all nonfiction . . .
