Sometimes it feels good to take the long way home...For 14 year old June, her world comes to an end during the AIDS outbreak in the 80's when she losses her beloved uncle Finn to the disease. Her loss is so profound, she feels there is no one that could possibly understand her pain until her Uncle's partner begins to secretly contact her. The bond they form from his death brings healing not only to them but to June's family that has become separated since her Uncle's death. A moving tale of the AIDS epidemic and how the Gay community were looked at during this crisis.

I was so pleasantly surprised by this book. A very sweet story about love and understanding that transcends our typical ideas of what love is.
I loved this book, I hadn't reaslied it was a young adult book but I dont care!! It was well written and thought provoking, believable and lets face it, in the 80s people were like that with regards to the unknown 'AIDS' virus.I would like to think if it was set now, things would be different, although would they??
