I will start the book this weekend or next Monday :) if you want to start already, fine with me, just mark your spoilers
I'm about 20 pages in. I kind of enjoy the world building, but the flowery language is kind of strange. I understand the concept of it, but I don't really feel that it boosts the impact of the content. What do you think about the language? Does it throw you of?
I think only until chapter 2, I have a lot of cleaning to do today :) We get a guest from Hong Kong tomorrow.
I have to finish Flowers for Algernon this month, because it is due at the library on 31 May. But The Lost Books of the Odyssey and Deathless are still on my list for next month :) should I put them in the discussion thread, in case we find someone else who wants to join?
Oh, that's ok :) I wanted to start Flowers for Algernon next Friday. How about we just use this thread to discuss it?
the 27th :) I actually put Lord of Light on hold for the moment, but I'll read on tomorrow after I finished Station Eleven
Yes, it is really sad. I think, it is more about how we as a society treat mentally disabled people, than about the operation itself.
Don't rush yourself on my behalf :) I thought the book made some good points on society and the importance we put on intelligence
That was a pretty funny seen, in my opinion ;)But he is really becoming quite arrogant at that point
I finished Lord of the Light and liked it a lot in the end. Of course it is not perfect, and there are sexist stereotypes, but I could tolerate those, as the book was written in the seventies. I thought it was a pretty funny book
