hi mimi :)i moved the original "welcome" topic to the random/off-topic folder. in case anyone's confused about that. XD
Kirilee,I've read your work. I left some comments for you on your thread.
Sagey,
You're next on my TBR list.
I am Marley, I'll be 14 Monday. I sometimes seem mean, but, you'll either get used to it, or leave me the heck alone. I like to write, talk (adamnlot!) and music is my favorite thing. I'm just here for a good time, and maybe I'll learn something new....
Oh, really, you think you are smarter then me because you don't use certain words? I use curses as often as I use other words. Sure it is, just not realistically.
Kirilee Fey Hycanth wrote: "cursing doesnt make a point! it just shows lack of brains!"Hmm I disagree. Yes, there are ways to avoid swearing in writing. But I wouldn't say that it shows "lack of brains". I agree that it doesn't necessarily "make a point", but it does make writing more realistic. It's the way people talk in real life, so I see no reason why people shouldn't write that way.
I'm sorry that something like a few swear words would be enough to make you leave a group. Really, there is not a lot of swearing in this group compared to a lot of other groups I've seen and compared to ... well ... the real world.
But if it offends you that much, I'll try to avoid swearing. I can't promise about others in the group, though.
Besides, how does it really effect you. If you don't like it, you don't do it. :)It makes as much of a point as other words.
some people can get in trouble though if parents see it on here... can we try and not debate? i'm not much for conflict...
Seriously, if you want to debate, join the debate group.
I have to say that there are some truly gifted writers in this group. Just want to say one thing before I turn in. If I take the time critique your work, it's probably because I think you are extremely talented. I respect any writer who takes pride in their work. But if you cannot take the time to clean up your story before posting it online to be read, I'm not going to waste my time reading your work. I've come across a couple of stories that are riddled with poor spelling, typos, repeated words, no spacing, etc. and it gave me a headache. Sorry, I am not going to waste my time reading this kind of work. Mistakes do happen and it's perfectly okay to have some flaws in your unpublished writing. But if you don't care about your work enough to clean it up so others can read it without getting double vision, why should anyone care to read your story? With that said, I've read the work of Kirilee, Brigid, Aly, and Rita. You are all wonderfully talented writers. Again, if I take the time to critique your work, it's because I can see you all becoming great writers. In fact, some of you are already better writers than I am. With just a little time and discipline, the world's gonna have heck trying to stop you! I look forward to reading some more writing from of other members of this group tomorrow. Cheers!
Davis,Although you come off pretty strong, I actually agree with you on many points. In fact, I removed your name from my post because I realize it was insensitive of me to use your name in a way that might be misconstrued as negative, when the point I was trying to make is that you have been stating some very valid points regarding the use of proper english, especially in writing. I humbly apologize for my error.
Thank you for your honesty, Kevis. :)And I agree – I see a lot of stories on this site that I can hardly read ...
Davis I don't mind you being honest, I don't even mind debating with people, but I feel that you should be a little more tactful and respectful in the wording of your comments. However, that is just my opinion so you can take it or leave it so whatever
Uh...personally yeah, but mostly just because it was/is a group for children not just teens and adults.
I think most teens can but you have to keep in mind that there are kids in the group also. (ie 9 yr.-olds)
