I had trouble believing the Abominable Snowman could have deliberately put the air freshener there to hurt Rebecca. I've encountered people who are super-sensitive to odors--and others who just can't fathom that this can be a real thing with such impact. That seems more likely to me rather than thinking the worst.
While Jill is correct that some people do not understand or recognize sensitivity to air freshener, Rebecca made her allergy clear from the beginning. The Abominable Snowwoman is very much aware of that before she enters the testing room and willingly lies. In fact, at the end, she mocks the situation, revealing her lack of concern for Rebecca's health:She looked up, a sardonic smile playing upon her lips.
“So, you survived?”
Very interesting dissection, Sarah. Whether The Abominable Snowwoman herself appears in THE ROSE AND THE SWORD, her presence in I THIRST certainly foreshadows elements of the next book. I'm glad that you enjoyed the friendship of Peter and Rebecca. And, yes, that is indeed a precarious situation, but . . . if you think that now, wait 'till you get to Book 2. ;)
