Great, glad to hear you liked it...I'm from south Florida so I found the premise very interesting.

I'm at 26%. I really liked the beginning of the book. Arlen has an interesting "gift." I'm wondering if Rebecca Cady has a similar gift (if she's the psychic woman the rich man, Sorenson, says he talked to).
Rebecca knows more than she will say, but at this point, it looks like more "human evil" than anything supernatural in HER life.... I'm wondering why Arlen isn't seeing anything yet.
When Arlen sees the "death" in the eyes of "the boy" only when he's in contact with Solomon, is a bit confusing to me....unless it means that if he stays, Solomon will kill him. I know he can "change" the course of death by changing their plans, but he's never mentioned one that "comes and goes" like this one. And I find it curious that he hasn't seen death in Rebecca, despite her working situation there....
I have some catching up to do with this one! Can't wait to get caught up and see how things progress...

I know! Did you just want to smack him in the head? Poor Rebecca, after all she's been through he comes home wanting to stay.
I definitely didn't see Arlen and Rebecca getting together, I felt bad for Paul, can't really blame him for what he ended up doing. Also, up to this point I was hoping for a little more supernatural action, but I do really like the story.

I am enjoying the story, but it doesn't seem like the supernatural is coming into play much--aside from the beginning scene, and the part when Paul shakes Wade's hand.

Oh I can't wait to see what you thought. I liked the ending!

LOVED that ending!!!! (view spoiler)
I was really happy with the ending, actually. I had been disappointed by the lack of the supernatural aspect in the story, Arlen's ability to foresee people's deaths, but I think that saving the majority of that action until the end of the book made it extra dramatic. Those scenes with Arlen and Tate's body in the swamp, wow!

I was so-so around 50-70%, getting frustrated that he wasn't using this ability more so (not to mention coming to terms with the death of his father), but the ending was that much stronger for the wait! Even in death, Tate tried to "be Tate" until he realized how serious Arlen was--then his love for his sons won out.
I was honestly surprised about Paul--for a while, I thought he really wanted to be like Owen (figuring that maybe he could still win his way to Rebecca's heart by being so close to her brother).

But wait! How did Paul know of their plan to tell Wade et al about it??? He was at the house while Owen and Arlen discussed details at the Boathouse. Plot hole imo.
