"The Year I Slept" is about my fourth or fifth novel, but in its confessional, semi-autobiographical nature, it can kind of come across as a "first novel". It's told in first person, and deals with themes of death, suicide, and sex.
It begins with a funeral for a woman who took her own life, and proceeds as the narrator struggles to deal with this death and move on towards living again.
