Good choices Sonya and Brandee!
I'm not quite sure yet what I will read, it all depends on if I have anything left from this month. I will try and use that time to read The Orchard though!

message 5: by Clare (new)

Clare (-clare-) | 98 comments I'm up for this. No idea what I'll be reading yet I'm not that organised.

message 6: by Margie (new)

Margie I'm in! Not sure what I'll be reading yet but I should have a plan by then.

message 7: by Veronique (last edited May 07, 2016 10:18PM) (new)

Veronique Never joined a readathon... Very tempted to try. It all depends on Real Life but otherwise, yes, count me in :0)

Sonya - The Stand is great and for a thick book, it reads quite fast. Hope you're/ you will enjoy it.

I think I'll read something with paper pages. Most of my reading these days is via audiobooks, but I have many many books which sit on my shelves waiting to be read. Maybe the Sigrid Unset trilogy. Or Fingersnith. Or more Patrick O'Brian.

message 13: by Cindy (new)

Cindy | 384 comments I might read The Great Gatsby. It has been on my TBR list for a long time. It is also one of those books that you should have read in school, but never finished. I made a promise to myself that I would read it, someday. This readathon may be the perfect time.

I think I'm going to make a push to read the books I've owned the longest. The first one is For the King's Favor, which has been sitting on my shelf for 5 years.

message 24: by Meghan (new)

Meghan Can we read books we started but never finished? Or is this just new books we need to read?

message 25: by Holly, That Geeky One (new)

Holly (hollycoulson) | 1949 comments Mod
Meghan, that sounds likes a great idea! The point of the readathon isn't to limit what you read, but instead motivate and push you! So reading books you didn't manage to finish sounds a great idea!

It's ultimately all about what you want to get off your to-read list, so go for it!

message 26: by Holly, That Geeky One (new)

Holly (hollycoulson) | 1949 comments Mod
I've finally finished with my essays, so I can't wait to fully immerse myself in reading again and push myself to catch up!

Planning to read:
Bloodline by Claudia Gray
Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel
Running the Books: The Adventures of an Accidental Prison Librarian by Avi Steinberg
Letters to a Young Poet by Rainer Maria Rilke

message 27: by Veronique (new)

Veronique Interesting list. Station Eleven was great (stayed in my mind for ages). Have never tried a Star Wars book, which is weird since I love the films (originals).

I saw load of discussion on Tumblr about it, and the fact its from Leia's perspective made me really interested!

And I bought Station Eleven not long ago, but it's been on my to read list forever. It sounds so interesting!

Yay for vacation Holly! Sounds like you have a very interesting list to get through!

message 30: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (an80slady6886) I'm really looking forward to the read-a-thon. I have a library book I must finish before I start the read-a-thon books, which I have already selected. They are on the shorter side because I hope to get through several. The book I have to finish, Lilac Girls is on the long side at 487 pages, so hopefully I can get to one or 2 of them

Kathryn, good to have you join us! And good luck with getting through your libary book! May I say your profile picture is outrageously adorable and funny :)

message 32: by Veronique (new)

Veronique Since I'm recovering from my Book Hangover and I have quite a few big reads starting in June (The Warden, Our Mutual Friend, and maybe Gone with the Wind), I'm going to go for shorter reads.

Leaving it quite free but thinking in the lines of:
YA - The Girl of Fire and Thorns or Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe
Children - The Lie Tree
Crime - In a Lonely Place
Persephone - Patience or Miss Ranskill Comes Home
Scifi/fan - All the Birds in the Sky or Firefight
Margery Sharp and Elizabeth Cadell were both very easy reads so I may pick another of their books...

message 33: by NzingaMarie (new)

NzingaMarie | 34 comments I'm excited about this one. I've barely gotten any reading done this month since starting my new job. This will give me a chance to start June off strong.

I just bought The Road Less Traveled by M. Scott Peck and Napoleon and I by Robert Shelley. Perfect time to get thise started.

I was able to renew my library book. Thought someone would put it on reserves since it hasn't been out long; I guess this is a perk to belonging to a small suburban library. Now, I can put this book aside and do the read-a-thon as planned. I chose 3 shorter books and hope to get through the first 2. The three books I chose are
2:46: Aftershocks: Stories from the Japan Earthquake,
Elle & Coach: Diabetes, the Fight for My Daughter's Life, and the Dog Who Changed Everything, and
We Will Survive: True Stories of Encouragement, Inspiration, and the Power of Song.

message 50: by Megan (new)

Megan Im gonna take part but i dont think il manage anything more than a book and a half and thats pushing it. I honestly dont know how people can read like 5 books in 4 days lol.
