Spring Cleaning Readathon 2016 Planning and General Discussion
Good choices Sonya and Brandee!
I'm not quite sure yet what I will read, it all depends on if I have anything left from this month. I will try and use that time to read The Orchard though!

Never joined a readathon... Very tempted to try. It all depends on Real Life but otherwise, yes, count me in :0)Sonya - The Stand is great and for a thick book, it reads quite fast. Hope you're/ you will enjoy it.
Veronique- It's pretty simple, just read as much as you can that week! It's pretty relaxed haha. Nice to have you all join us!
I need to make a start on some books that have been on my tbr too long incl some that are part of various series so I will pick from those.
I will pick something from my TBR list or maybe Milton Friedman or Glenn Beck, fiction or non-fiction.
I think I'll read something with paper pages. Most of my reading these days is via audiobooks, but I have many many books which sit on my shelves waiting to be read. Maybe the Sigrid Unset trilogy. Or Fingersnith. Or more Patrick O'Brian.
I might read The Great Gatsby. It has been on my TBR list for a long time. It is also one of those books that you should have read in school, but never finished. I made a promise to myself that I would read it, someday. This readathon may be the perfect time.
Good choice Cindy! And horay for paper books Renee!
I am going to try and read 4 books for this. Something with April, Something with May, Water Song and The Frog Prince

I think I'm going to make a push to read the books I've owned the longest. The first one is For the King's Favor, which has been sitting on my shelf for 5 years.
Will there be a hashtag everyone is planning to use to keep up with each other?Haven't decided on a TBR yet but I'm thinking on it.... :)
Meghan, that sounds likes a great idea! The point of the readathon isn't to limit what you read, but instead motivate and push you! So reading books you didn't manage to finish sounds a great idea!
It's ultimately all about what you want to get off your to-read list, so go for it!

I've finally finished with my essays, so I can't wait to fully immerse myself in reading again and push myself to catch up!
Planning to read:
Bloodline by Claudia Gray
Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel
Running the Books: The Adventures of an Accidental Prison Librarian by Avi Steinberg
Letters to a Young Poet by Rainer Maria Rilke

Interesting list. Station Eleven was great (stayed in my mind for ages). Have never tried a Star Wars book, which is weird since I love the films (originals).

I saw load of discussion on Tumblr about it, and the fact its from Leia's perspective made me really interested!
And I bought Station Eleven not long ago, but it's been on my to read list forever. It sounds so interesting!

I'm really looking forward to the read-a-thon. I have a library book I must finish before I start the read-a-thon books, which I have already selected. They are on the shorter side because I hope to get through several. The book I have to finish, Lilac Girls is on the long side at 487 pages, so hopefully I can get to one or 2 of them
Kathryn, good to have you join us! And good luck with getting through your libary book! May I say your profile picture is outrageously adorable and funny :)
Since I'm recovering from my Book Hangover and I have quite a few big reads starting in June (The Warden, Our Mutual Friend, and maybe Gone with the Wind), I'm going to go for shorter reads. Leaving it quite free but thinking in the lines of:
YA - The Girl of Fire and Thorns or Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe
Children - The Lie Tree
Crime - In a Lonely Place
Persephone - Patience or Miss Ranskill Comes Home
Scifi/fan - All the Birds in the Sky or Firefight
Margery Sharp and Elizabeth Cadell were both very easy reads so I may pick another of their books...
I'm excited about this one. I've barely gotten any reading done this month since starting my new job. This will give me a chance to start June off strong. I just bought The Road Less Traveled by M. Scott Peck and Napoleon and I by Robert Shelley. Perfect time to get thise started.

I enjoyed All the Birds in the Sky. Not traditional SciFi, it was kind of charming.

I'm going to read Scarlet by Marissa Mayer
Unhappenings by Edward Aubrey
Stolen Songbird by Danielle Jensen which I have been itching to read for so long now.
If I get the chance I will also read
Thorn by Intisar Khanani and
Tangled by Phyllis H Moore
Meghan, how much of war and peace do you have left?? And nice to see all the communications going on here!
Margie wrote: "I'm hoping to read The Woman in White and The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry."Woman in white is great and reads very quickly for a big book :0)
I am ready - 5 books in 5 days.. all have been on my list since 2014.
I am retired and have plenty of time to read. These are all short books averaging about 190 pages. I can do this ;-)

Thought someone would put it on reserves since it hasn't been out long; I guess this is a perk to belonging to a small suburban library. Now, I can put this book aside and do the read-a-thon as planned. I chose 3 shorter books and hope to get through the first 2. The three books I chose are
2:46: Aftershocks: Stories from the Japan Earthquake,
Elle & Coach: Diabetes, the Fight for My Daughter's Life, and the Dog Who Changed Everything, and
We Will Survive: True Stories of Encouragement, Inspiration, and the Power of Song.
