We have this bush/vine plant here in New Mexico called bind weed. They have roots that go as deep as hell. So when I read about the blackberry bushes and the damage they do, I could relate, as the bind weed causes us so much grief here. To dig them up every week or two with roots that go a good 6-12 inches down drive me nuts, and they they choke my vegetable garden down to nothing. UGH.

On a related note: I live in a hilly area, and as soon as there was talk of pulling out all the plant life on the hill, I even thought "this isn't going to end well."
