Jamie Hanson (hgs1superfan) | 3 comments For my first saturation book I read The Bane Chronicles by Cassandra Clare. The first thing this book taught me about writing is that you can write multiple short stories to make up a bigger story. Even though this book contains multiple short stories about different time periods and different adventures Magnus has been through it makes up different parts of his past that make him whole. I think the idea of multiple short stories for a novel is very interesting and might even try it. The second thing this book taught me was to make your characters unique. Magnus is a very flamboyant warlock. He's always super funny and is always entertaining. You can always tell what Magnus did just from knowing his personality. I learned to make your characters personable so the reader is more inclined to read on. The third thing this book taught me is to mix real and fictional elements. If everything in this book was completely fantasy and never bound to happen in real life it's not as interesting to read so you combine elements from the real world. Magnus secretly lives as a warlock in this world full of humans and interacts with humans and does a lot of the same things as humans. To make your writing more realistic combine elements.
