It's been really long time since I read this. But I think Ever and Damen are immortal in the end. Everything is resolved. So I'm pretty sure they get back together in the end. It's the sort of ending like ride-off-into-the-sunset kind of thing. They go through all these challenges and in the end it's happily ever after.
