Oh. I didn't know that was a thing. Although Steve did say he could veto books, so I guess I did know. Well, can I withdraw that nomination then? instead I will nominate The Innocence of Father Brown, by G.K. Chesterton. No, never mind. because I haven't read that yet; it's just something I want to read. that didn't work out so well last time... Have we done John Carter yet? I feel like we did a lot of Mars stories all at once. Maybe Foundation by Isaac Asimov? No, that one doesn't have enough action; it's more about ideas, so Silent Planet detractors wouldn't like it. I will just nominate Fellowship of the Ring, by Tolkien.
darn, I just thought of a good recommendation. I will save it for next month. (I'm sure everyone is just dying to know what the guy with the worst nominating record has in store...)
Yeah, but if, say, some guy named Ronald Frump wins a presidential election, and goes on to become the most hated president in history, then someone like Bob Dole would probably have a better reputation.
All the books I want to suggest are parts of long series. I'm gonna suggest World War Z since it actually isn't part of a series.
I'd like to nominate The Last Kingdom (The Saxon Stories, #1) by Bernard Cornwell. This series is now being adapted into a BBC series. And for those of you familiar with the History Channel's Vikings show, it is set in the same period and features some of tje same characters. But it is more from the English POV.
