Cobwebs-Iced-Across-SpaceTime (readingreindeerproximacentauri) Discussion commences May 13

Cobwebs-Iced-Across-SpaceTime (readingreindeerproximacentauri) If you've read Sherlock Holmes, Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot, you're going to love crime fiction's latest detective, Alicia Allen; London's delightful Anglo-Italian sleuth with a passion for Pringles... and solving crime.

Alicia Allen is a London solicitor about to discover she has an unusual flair for solving crime. When her Australian neighbour, Tamsin Brown, a model, is brutally raped and beaten to death, her flatmate Kimberley Davies begs for Alicia’s help and she cannot easily refuse. After her inquisitive elderly neighbour Dorothy Hammond is savagely attacked, Alicia knows there’s no turning back and she soon becomes embroiled in the hunt for Tamsin’s killer and the sleazy world of hostess clubs. Meanwhile, having accepted a new job at the firm of Wilson, Weil & Co., where Kimberley works as a secretary, she discovers that nothing there is as it seems and that nobody can be trusted, not even a Junior Partner called Alexander Waterford to whom she is attracted. Alicia’s tenacious investigations, however, have life-threatening consequences for those drawn into the evil web created by Tamsin’s killer, who believes there is such a thing as a model murder…

For those who read on Kindle, this is currently $.99

Una Tiers (unatiers) Celia Conrad uses the opening pages of the book to allow the new characters to introduce themselves to the protagonist. Backstory on the other key characters is introduced.
The author has an easy style of writing.

Una Tiers (unatiers) It is lovely for you to join us Celia!

Cobwebs-Iced-Across-SpaceTime (readingreindeerproximacentauri) Thanks for joining in, Celia! Much appreciated!

Cobwebs-Iced-Across-SpaceTime (readingreindeerproximacentauri) I love the London setting. Thanks for introducing us to the neighbors, and hangers-on. One particularly griped my nerves, but i understand fiction, like life, needs friction and tension to produce drama. Too dull otherwise.:)

Una Tiers (unatiers) Celia, early in the book you mention 'garden leave.'
Can you explain that term?
It seems we will all speak a little Italian by the end of the book.
