Kaitlyn Smith category: printz award winner rating: *** dates read: April 28- may 8 Summary: In Where Things Come Back there are two separate stories going until they meet and become one. The first is about Cullen Witter, and his life. All is great for him, until one day his brother goes missing. This makes everything different for him. The other starts with a missionary who returns and goes to college. His roommate finds all of his notes about the bible and decides to center his life around his findings. This person becomes obsessed with religion, and it tears him apart. He starts doing and saying things out of the ordinary, and his sporadic behavior might just cost someone their life. All the while the magical woodpecker takes all the fame. The only problem with that is no one has even seen this woodpecker. Personal Reaction: I thought this book was a little slow. It definitely isn't an action book of any kind. This was not like other books that I've read before, but I liked it. I think I would have liked it better if there was more action in it. It was kind of hard to follow at times because it switches stories, and time frames. At one point I was really confused, and had to go back and reread a page or two. The reason I liked this book is because of its difference from other books. If you want to read something that wouldn't be a "typical" book then this is a good book for you!
