I read this book (and the next in the series) in one sitting. While this book isn't great literature, it is a fun read. We've had Abraham Lincoln vampire hunter and now we have William Shakespeare zombie killer. I liked the random lines from movies and TV shows that imply that the immortal Shakespeare is still writing.

Some reviews I've read take a dislike to the term necro-vamp. I'm not fond of it myself but as yet I have no alternative. I've never encountered a ghost-seeing, zombie raising vampire before. It seems logical that the undead would have an affinity for the dead.

Kate is a heroine along the lines of the Slayers from Buffy's world. While she accepts her duty she must hide it from everyone. She has tremendous ability but is at the mercy of her husband and society's rules of feminine behavior.

I think the least interesting part of this book is the love affair between Kate and Shakespeare. It just seems too convenient. It was a forgone conclusion that she would eventually figure out that he was a vampire. The only question was would she accept him? That's not an interesting enough question in my opinion.
