Hey everyone, do you have any classic books that you purchased in the past and then, after reading them, discovered that they weren't really your cup of tea? I sure do! I know I won't read them again, but am loathe to get rid of them because they are technically decent quality literature.

Anyway, I think it might be fun for members to get paired up and then mail their copy of a classic book they no longer want to another member. Perhaps someone else will truly love the book. Then, after people read their new books, everyone can post their thoughts.

Anyone who's interested can sign up in this thread, and if enough people respond, I'll pair people up, you can pm your partner your book preferences and address, and we can do an exchange!

Candice This is a wonderful idea! I am so relieved that I am not the only person who feels this way about some of my books! I would definitely be interested in something like this. One question though. What is average shipping costs for books?

Hi Candice, glad to hear you are interested! I'm not sure about international shipping, but within the United States, the USPS has a service called "Media Mail" for shipping books. The price is based on the weight of the book, and I believe it starts at $2.61. In my limited experience using it in the past, it hasn't gone higher than $4.

Candice That is great news! Hopefully more people will be interested in the book exchange. It would be amazing to have more than just a few people to participate in the book exchange.

Beth (k9odyssey) I am interested. Still not quite sure how it would work but I'm game!

Hi Beth! Glad to hear you're interested. Basically, once enough people sign up, I'd match everyone up with a partner. Then I'd post the list of partners in this forum, and you and your partner would private message each other. You can ask your partner if they have a particular author or genre they prefer, and can exchange addresses. Then you would mail a classic book you think they might enjoy (which you already own but do not enjoy) to them. They will read the book and post their thoughts back in the forum upon reading it, and perhaps also post a picture of the book they received!

Let me know if this explains the idea better :)

Goreti I think it's an excellent idea.
I might only be able to exchange some books, since I live in Portugal, and most books are in Portuguese.

Greetings Goreti, I am glad to hear you are interested! Hopefully a few more people decide to participate. I think it could be rather fun :)
