Matt | 150 comments Has anyone read The Man in the High Castle? I enjoyed the first season on Amazon Prime, but I haven't read the book. Has anyone read any of Dick's works? I've enjoyed the adaptations I've seen (Blade Runner and Minority Report), but I don't know much about the books, other than that sometimes filmmakers take a Dick short story as inspiration, and expand it to a feature film.

I have read man in the high castle as well as many of his other books and short stories. I am a big fan. He is not for everyone however. I encourage you to try some of his other works.

Matt | 150 comments hmm, maybe I'll start with a short story. is "do androids dream of electric sheep" a good starting point?

I think that would be fine to start with. His books do have some deeper themes and ideas in them. They don't lend themselves as well to audio. I think they require more attention

Matt | 150 comments oh, that is a full novel. for some reason I was thinking it was a short story. Maybe I'm getting confused with total recall or something...

That one was a short story. For a novel androids dream wasn't very long.

Matt | 150 comments cool. have you seen the adaptation of high castle? how faithful is that to the book?

Matt | 150 comments it's pretty good. it's a bit slow, but not necessarily in a bad way.
