A round grassy clearing bordered by a thin river. A bridge runs over the stream and is the only way in and out of the camp.

Roseleaf winced, but still couldn't find the words she was looking for, and before she could say anything, Sootfur, her brother, lunged. Right behind him was Mudfeet, and they both attacked Blue. "Stop!" Roseleaf squeaked, but no one heard her, and even if they had, they wouldn't have listened. "He's okay! Please, he just..." but, with a sinking heart, Roseleaf realized she couldn't say anything without giving away what she had done, and getting herself in trouble, and so she stayed silent, staring at what she could see of Blue with big eyes, trying to show how sorry she was.

Roseleaf only widened her eyes more, willing Blue to run. Come on, please, you stupid tom, run! She watched as Sootfur was sent skidding, then jumped back up with a snarl. He ran back towards Blue and pounced, raking his claws along his pelt. Mudfeet bit down hard on Blue's hind foot, and Roseleaf winced. By now most of the clan had come to see what the commotion was about, but luckily Roseleaf didn't see the leader anywhere just yet. No cat went to help - they knew better than to fight one of Sootfur's battles for him, he wouldn't take kindly to that. She watched as Blue batted Mudfeet around the head, and shouted before she could stop herself, "No, Mudfeet!" Her brother turned around with a snarl, "What are you doing, just standing there - come help drive this mangy loner of RiverClan territory! Roseleaf, not knowing what else to do, complied (reluctantly) and started pretending she was fighting Blue as well. Her heart wasn't in it, though. For a split second her muzzle got near his ear, and she hissed, "Run, Blue!" before giving him a good nick to the ear.

Sootfur and Mudfeet were left to circle the tree, hissing, furious they couldn't get to the loner and he was still on RiverClan territory after all this. Roseleaf backed away, now feeling miserable for all the trouble she'd caused. Roseleaf winced when Blue said her name. She could sense Sootfur's fur bristling as he rounded on his sister. "Rosel- how does this loner know your name - he sounds like he knows it well...?" Roseleaf, stiff with fear, could only squeak, "He - must - have - heard it?"

Roseleaf melted right down to her claws. That was the last thing he was supposed to say. Now she'd be punished and her brothers would make fun of her all over again and - wait did he think she made a fool of herself? Didn't he think that was fun, didn't - No, Roseleaf, she thought sternly to herself. Focus.

So, her mind began whirring, and with an imaginary ding, she straightened up, glared right at Blue, and hissed, "Don't trust him, I never saw him before in my entire life." Sootfur paused, as if not knowing what to do. On the one hand, he would believe his sister over a loner any day, but what he said did sound like something Roseleaf would do. Roseleaf, spotting her brother's hesitation, turned to him instead. "You really believe the word of a loner over one of your own clan - own kin?" Her eyes flashed with a fierce light, and her claws slid out. She could be quite menacing when she was determined.

Roseleaf, relieved Blue had understood, watched as he bounded away. She did catch his silent message, and quickly mewed before either brother could say anything, "I'll see that he leaves RiverClan territory!" No one protested, and so she bounded after him, quickly catching up. She slowed once they were out of view and scent of the camp.

"You shouldn't have followed me!" she hissed, arching her back. "And then you didn't run! What was I supposed to do? I tried helping, but you stubborn toms don't run! As it is, if it wasn't for me you'd have more than those few scratches on your pelt!" She clawed the ground, so furious she was scratching deep marks into the soil. And here I thought he was going to thank me. Stupid toms!

Roseleaf narrowed her eyes. "Don't you dare start - I've seen kits fight better than the show you did back there! Just, get off RiverClan territory and stay off!" And with that, she spun around, and marched back through the trees, too furious to be able to say anything more. Pathetic. If anyone's the pathetic one, he's the pathetic one! He's... so... stubborn... I... just... can't... she was so frustrated her thoughts were beginning to merge and she couldn't form complete sentences anymore. Instead, she just went on, glowering at every leaf that brushed her pelt.

((hmm... what about it's like a week later, or even a moon, and something happens where Roseleaf is in trouble - like drowning-trouble or something, and Blue saves her? That seems like something he'd do...))
