Well, here we go...1) I have no idea. I think having the ability to remain calm is very important, so that you can keep everyone around you sane. (And no, I'm not aware of me having a skill that could help in a post-apocalyptic world)
2) The ice breaker. (Bad pun, sorry) They should've seen it coming.
3) Both. Friends with great skills. Friends you can't trust and won't murder you to eat you.

Roughly Chapter 8. I know some people who started yesterday, and some who finished today so no worries either way.

1) Could I do it really old school and tell stories? No, I’m be rubbish without writing it down first. And paper might be very limited. I’d love to learn archery and that would be a solid skill.
2) The turkey scene really stuck in my head. I feel like I could have made any of the mistakes because I don’t think anyone really messed up because they are a bonehead (besides you know who). My gut would been to hunker down and that is never a good plan in these books.
3) I’d pick people I get along with over people who know what they are doing. Less likelihood of wanted to murder your travel mates, or having them not care about you. Plus I think it would be better for moral which is something no survival tool can help you with. (Besides maybe a solar kindle charger.)

1) Any hunting/craftsman skill would be really useful, though probably on a superficial level (if "staying alive" could be considered "superficial"). On a deeper level, just having someone to talk to and get you out of your head would ease some of the psychological trauma (as we can tell with Mab in the first book). I have no skills in the former category, but I am a pretty good listener. 2) (view spoiler)
3) Honestly, I probably wouldn't survive long enough to pick people, but if I did, I would stick with my family. Not only would they do their darnedest to keep me alive, but many of them know enough survival skills to maaaaaaybe stay in the game for a little while longer.
1) There are a lot of skills that would be handy; first aid, plant identification, cooking, etc. The only semi-useful apocalypse skill I have is sewing. Also I don't think this counts as a skill but I have a pocket watch that is wound not battery powered.2) (as of chapter 8) I think the turkey thing would have been a big problem if they didn't find help.
3) I wouldn't have much choice in apocalypse companions I would probably just stay with my parents and try to keep in touch with my sister and best friend for as long as I could/until we all met up. As for picking up travelers along the way I would prefer they had survival skills since I sure don't. I would also hope we got along but if we didn't outright hate each other that would be good enough.
1) I don't feel like I have many apocalypse applicable skills, but I (like Janie) can learn a lot from books. Give me a manual or something and I can figure it out. Other than that, being calm and practical might come in handy!2) I think that the most devastating mistake was when Colt sort of taunted Dee and he ran towards the ocean... I can't imagine what the rest of their journey would have looked like had that gone badly...
3) Being on a team with the people you are with is important. Everyone needs to be on the same page and working towards the same goals. Building that sense of community is the most important thing, and lack of teamwork will make most skills less useful.

Hello survivors! Let's rather around a secure fire and discuss the book so far.
What skills do you think would be most valuable after the end of the world? Do you have any? (Mine would all need solar chargers...)
Of all the mistakes that they make (so far), which one is the worst? Would you have many of the same mistakes?
If you had to travel this world who would you pick as your traveling partners? Would you pick based on skill set, or who you could get along with?
