What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

Hi all. thanks for any help you can provide. I read this book some time in high school (graduated 2008). The cover had a teen girl with black hair.

The main character is 16 and has been having nightmares about vampires. Her dad is a paranoid type of guy - they have a bunch of locks on their door, she used nail polish to color them so she knows what key goes to what lock. Their house is a big creepy mansion.

Her bf at the time ends up being related to Dracula, possibly his grandson? I remember they go on a date and he orders a really rare steak and it creeps her out. Her cat ends up being a van helsing type character (or van helsing) and she meets his son, who she ends up liking.

Her mom is dead.

is it modern or historical--and if historical, which era--roaring 20's, Regency, 1930's, WWII, WWI etc. Any memories on the cover? (Sometimes questions jog more out of the grey matter, hence all the questions.)

It was definitely modern.

I think it was the author's first book. it left an opening for a sequel but I never found one.
