Comic Book Guy from Simpsons

ComiXology introduced ComiXology Unlimited, modeled on parent company Amazon's "Kindle Unlimited" service that lets you borrow e-books. From the limited set of comics available, you can borrow and read as many as you wish for us$5.99/mo. (US only.)

I tried the free trial subscription, and I'm already looking for instructions on how to cancel. It didn't surprise me that it didn't include Marvel or DC titles. the disappointment was that for other publishers, it's strictly back catalogue stuff.

It does include some titles I read, such as Saga & Lazarus, but it's limited to only old back issues (a couple of years old. So you can read Saga 1-6 or Lazarus 1-4, but then... I suppose over time they might add more issues as those get older.

Dave (dcr_writes) | 45 comments Personally, I've avoided it mainly because it requires the Amazon connection and that kills PayPal on Comixology. As someone who buys almost all his comics with PayPal, that's not a direction I want to follow.

Roger I don't envision my trying this service but I did try kindle unlimited and just like this service, there just wasn't enough content that I wanted to read to entice me to keep it. Also, it forces you to read a few books from the service a month or risk not getting your money's worth out of it. I personally don't like to read a lot on my kindle, I stare at a computer screen all day and don't want to stare at one for entertainment, so it turned out to just not be worth it.

Dave (dcr_writes) | 45 comments I have a 12-inch tablet so it's fine for reading comics. I also don't have an issue with screens.

But yeah, you have to use a monthly service and I don't always. That's another reason I prefer just buying what I want when I want it. It's on my schedule, not the service's.
