Alexander slips into the library, it was the only place where he could get some peace. It felt good to be surrounded by..this..really sad amount of books...He noticed with a slight sigh.
*Mint sat at one of the many metal tables, flipping through a magazine. There was a throbbing in her head, and she was still recovering from spending the last two weeks deep in meth withdrawal. She soon pushed the magazine away and rubbed her temples. The guards watched her with prying eyes. It was amazing, really, that she was able to leave her cell (and her insane cell mate.)
This wasn't at all what he expected. A few rows of books lined the shelves with metal tables scattered around. At one of them, he noticed, was a girl. Her two guards glared at him and he sent them a slight smirk as he whisked past. He's been trying to be "good" so his guards would leave him alone so he'd have time to figure out how to bust out. It payed off well. He's been walking around, looking for windows, vents, anything really.
*Mint didn't notice the inmate scanning the shelves. Her eyes were closed and her lips pursed. She felt as if someone was repeatedly stabbing her in the head. She stood up and her guards set hands on their weapons* Jesus Christ, am I that scary?*She wondered as she wandered over to the drinking fountain.*
He watches the girl out of the corner of his eye. He's been in prison for not long, but enough to know that the inmates could, would, and can attack you. And sometimes the guards would place their bets on which one would win. But most of the time, you'd just get a stick to the head. Which sucks in the morning.
*Mint pressed her lips onto the metal. She drank greedily, wiped her mouth with her grey sleeve and headed back to her seat. She finally noticed the man and sighed. The last thing she needed was another person harassing her.*
He pulls out a book, flipping through it. The pages were ripped, crumbled and smeared. What were these? Books that toddlers chewed on. He shakes his head putting it back. Alexanders lifts his head, looking for a window, or vent. Making it seem like he's just looking for another book.
*Mint watched from her seat. She noticed what he was doing. She resisted butting in and mentioning the fact that they were in a maximum security prison, and it was highly unlikely someone would just leave a window open. A half-smile tugged on the edges of her chapped lips*
He mutters a curse. He wouldn't spend the rest of his god damned life in a god damn jail cell.
*Mint suppressed a chuckle. In the silence, his voice carried a little too well. She stood up and returned the magazine before simply sitting down.*
He looks at the girl, raising an eyebrow. She looks like she was having a BLAST over there. He smirks. He takes out two random books and he slides into the chair across from her. "Looks like your having fun. Your guards must be giving you a party" He says.
*Mint eyed the man, and then the guards. She wasn't sure what their reaction would be if she spoke. Probably to send her back to solitary. * "F*ck off, smartass." *She muttered. She really just needed some time alone. Maybe solitary was the solution.*
"No way to treat someone who brought you," He looks down at the books, and turns his head to hide the smirk. "Cat in The Hat and Curious Gorge"
*Mint buried her head in her palms* "Thanks for that, pr*ck." *She hissed, still massaging her scalp.*
"I thought you looked like a Dr. Seuss kinda girl" He says with a smile, not really fazed by her trying to push him away. He leans closer and whispers "To be truthful I'm more of an Clifford guy" He says teasingly, trying to lighten the mood. Being in prison doesn't mean you have to be all tough and mean.
*Mint moved her chair away.* "Don't touch me." *She growled.* "I don't care if you run your mouth, but don't touch me."
"I won't touch you and I wasn't planning on it. I'm not a woman molester." He says leaning back in his chair looking at her.
"touché" He says looking at her with slight amusement. "So Ms...?" He says, implying that he hasn't gotten her name.
He rolls his eyes. "You know what. Fine Blue Bunny. You can call me Quinn"
"Aw Blue. I'm hurt" He says with mock pain. "I brought you over Cat In The Hat too.." He sighs stacking the books into a pile. He looks over at the guards and he glares. "Back up a few. You don't need to be touching her all the time. She isn't going to kill me with a book. You have guns don't you? Close as you are she'd probably kill you before you could even get your walkie talkies"
He shakes his head. "No. Blue. That's not how it works. You tell me your name and I'll tell you mine. I only shared a children's book with you. Don't you think we should wait till the second encounters for murder tales?" He says with a slight smile. "I believe we all have a chance. It's just a choice if you accept it or not. I look forward to seeing you again Blue" He gets up, leaving the books in front of her, and walking out. He planted the seed. It's in her mind and it doesn't matter if she lets it grow or not. It'd get her thinking. He needed a riot. A distraction to get out. And that's what he planned to do.
And here she was, two weeks later, still battling a headache, still deep in withdrawal, and still dreading human interaction. Every second here was terrible. Mint had gotten her hands on a few Stephen King novels, and she was deep into the second one in the pile, Carrie, before she heard a noise.
Claude found his way to a library, thank goodness something to keep him occupied amidst all these . . . Interesting inmates, the tired looking man began to wander the horror section. After all he assumed many of the other inmates wandered this section and assumed having knowledge of some of the library's selection could be good topic of conversation. Claude continued to wander the shelved till he felt something bump into him ((Actually he bumped into the shelf) And began to pat down his side while mutter "Not this again . . . ."
Mint looked up from the dark corner in the libary she sat in, and looked at the seven guards around her. She stared up at the nearby man looking through the books and calmly reopened her book. Mint had learned not to engage anyone
"Um excuse me, you a Steven King fan? Hm, guess you got some good taste." Claude took note of the woman, memorizing each feature and trying to read in on what she was thinking. Bearing a content, yet unreadable expression.
"Well ain't you a little ray of sunshine . . ." Claude continued to browse the shelves, pulling out a novel titled House of Leaves and began to read, his back facing the shelf and occasionally looking about his surroundings. Thinking about how interesting it might be to irritate this woman a bit more, "So what's your name sunshine?"
Mint dog-eared the page and glared up at him. "Call me Rabbit". She sighed. Why must other people always try to engage her?
"Um . . . Rabbit? I guess that's interesting, naming yourself after meek, fragile, cute prey?" Claude's expression slowly began to take a more smug-content look, still reading his book and not even giving the clearly annoyed woman "Never would've guessed . . ."
"You think I picked it? My ma started it 'cause I had buck teeth and big ears." She snapped and reopened the book. A copy of Red Dragon suddenly caught her eye and she sighed. She dealt with a man eerily similar to one of the characters...
"Jeez, and I thought I had a bad temper. Ya make me look like Lucy Ricardo, so lil' peanut what's got ya in such a crummy mood?" Claude began to internally chuckle at this peculiar girl, or in other words Rabbits reactions. But alas, he wasn't in the mood to guffaw too laud around her. A proper session of annoyance happens slowly, in small increments . . .
(Okie see ya, I might as well leave a response in the mean time)"Fine and I suppose, just trying to find someone who ain't completely off their rocker." Well well well, Claude already has found some notable tidbits on an inmate. Now the question was, how far can he go till she finally is fed up with him?
"The system ey, yeah it's a good thing to blame. Easy to, I mean it's kind of a go to when ya don't follow the rules." Claude could only let out a soft laugh as he flipped a page in his book, amused at how 'rabbit threw her book' . . . How immature
"But don't we all?" Claude put his book back onto the shelf, only being amused by this young woman's anger. "We're all innocent right?" Claude stood up straight and began to face 'Rabbit', leaning downwards so he was face to face with her, his nonchalant and relaxed grin slowly creeping up and up . . .
Mint pushed herself back and threw up her forearm, forcing his face away from hers. "You prick." She spat at him as her five guards restrained her
As he was forced back, Claued simply watched Rabbit be restrained as he gave himself another pat down (always good to make sure he's a-okay), ignoring her spitting at him and only giving a nonchalant grin. "Well this sure is more fun than a book or two . . ."
He stepped back a tad, let out a breathless chuckle when 'the wind was knocked out of him', but hardly reacted to the pain. For him there was none . . . "I suppose that was supposed to hurt? My mistake . . . Um, ow? I never really was the acting type" Claude simply grabbed a hold of her shoulder and lightly flicked her in the face, "Bad dog, or should I say . . . Rabbit?" Claude only looked up at the guards, who glared at him, "Did I do something wrong? Oh right I stooped to ye're level by hitting back . . . Quite frankly I have no regrets."
