This is one of those special little books that you can't imagine having never read. Seriously, why did I wait so long. It's a quaint little thing that is magical and wonderful. There was something very peaceful about reading this story. I loved it! Better than the movie, but both are great.4/5
Sophie wrote: "I loved the movie, so I'm definitely adding this one to my tbr, thanks!"If you loved the movie I think you'll really enjoy the book. I like that the book delves a bit deeper into the father/son relationship and the idea of fathers being heroes to sons. It's one of those beautiful books that just sets right into your bones and leaves a happy feelings. It's pretty short too, less than 200 pages, so it goes really quick.

GR synopsis:
He could outrun anybody, and he never missed a day of school. He saved lives, tamed giants. Animals loved him. People loved him. Women loved him (and he loved them back). And he knew more jokes than any man alive.
Now, as he lies dying, Edward Bloom can't seem to stop telling jokes -or the tall tales that have made him, in his son's eyes, an extraordinary man. Big Fish is the story of this man's life, told as a series of legends and myths inspired by the few facts his son, William, knows. Through these tales -hilarious and wrenching, tender and outrageous- William begins to understand his elusive father's great feats, and his great failings.
I am going to start reading this one tonight for week 47, a book with a food or drink in the title. I love the movie and am eager to read the book that inspired it.
