Gandalf, I have a very serious question witch me and my brothers have been debating over for years. Did Gandalf the Gray die when he became Gandalf the White?

Ah my dear friends and acquaintances, for once you shall hear the truth! My old friend, Saruman, was once the Great White Wizard. He was the leader of all other wizards-white displayed his position. But evil and vanity plagued his heart, and he turned to Lord Sauron, becoming a wizard of all colours.

As I fell through the shafts of flame and smoke, piercing the Balrog with my sword and staff...As I wielded my weapons and ended the beast's life...I became the new White Wizard, replacing dear Saruman. And that, my fellow fangirl and fanboys, is the truth you have been waiting for.

Well, yes, now you mention it. I had to smash a door to enter into Saruman's domain. I used my almighty staff, muttered a spell, and the door shattered into tiny shards of dark wood.
