What are you planning on reading this summer? Have any summer reading goals?

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) Jenny wrote: "What are you planning on reading this summer? Have any summer reading goals?"

My goal is to keep up with my reading challenge. I just bumped it from 250 to 300 yesterday so I'm a few books behind.

I'm also aiming to read more new to me authors and read some books I've bought in the past 2-3 years that I haven't had a chance to read yet.

My goal is to read these books in June, but more likely I'll read them over the course of the summer. :P

message 11: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 738 comments Well, I'm hoping to finish some of my series re-reads this summer! I want to re-read:

Harry Potter (books 4-7, I've finished re-reading the first 3):

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Harry Potter, #4) by J.K. Rowling Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Harry Potter, #5) by J.K. Rowling Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Harry Potter, #6) by J.K. Rowling Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter, #7) by J.K. Rowling

Chaos Walking:

The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness The Ask and the Answer (Chaos Walking, #2) by Patrick Ness Monsters of Men (Chaos Walking, #3) by Patrick Ness

His Dark Materials:

The Golden Compass (His Dark Materials, #1) by Philip Pullman The Subtle Knife (His Dark Materials, #2) by Philip Pullman The Amber Spyglass (His Dark Materials, #3) by Philip Pullman

I also need to read books 2 and 3 in the Wildwood series:

Under Wildwood (Wildwood Chronicles, #2) by Colin Meloy Wildwood Imperium (Wildwood Chronicles, #3) by Colin Meloy

Plus I have some yearly challenges I want to tackle––i.e. reading more books I've bought that I haven't read yet, reading more adult fiction and non-fiction, etc. But I'm not sure which books I'll be reading for those challenges yet. :P

message 13: by Victoria (last edited May 29, 2016 09:29PM) (new)

Victoria Zigler (toriz) | 4472 comments My Summer reading goal is the same as the goal I've had since the start of the year: read as many as I can of the books I've had sat on my Kindle waiting to be read for a long time. I mean, some of these books I've had since I got my first Kindle and went nuts buying books for it. So, I want to make a point of reading as many of those as possible.

I'm not saying I won't get distracted by shiny new books - the book I'm currently reading is a shiny new one that distracted me, after all. I just want to be able to see a decrease in the number of books sitting on my Kindle waiting for me to read them. I'm not saying a decrease in my to-read list on here... That's something totally different, and unlikely to happen. Mind you, even just the decrease in the number of books on my Kindle waiting to be read might be unlikely. But, as long as I can see I've read a decent chunk of the ones that have been on there the longest, I'll be happy with that.

I'm not going to list titles here though, because I'm not too sure which ones I'll read. All I can tell you is that they're a mixture of classics, self-published books, and traditionally published books... I think mainly the first two.

Catherine Bruno | 771 comments I know for sure that I definitely want to read A Gathering of Shadows, The Rose and the Dagger, and ACOMAF. But that's all I've got so far; too many to name. I was thinking of doing the summer reading program at the library, but I think I'm going to take a break this year and work my way through my TBR list and work on some of the books on my shelf.

These Violent Delights (Robin) Well.... I really REALLY hope to get to all these books this summer, but reading slumps, camping, work, college prep, High School graduation/Trade School graduation, family parties/plans, etc will probably cause me to read a lot less than I would like.

I will definitely be reading these due to planned buddy reads:

That's why I don't bother to make one. I tend to just pick what I feel like reading at the time and have a copy of. Hence making my Summer reading goal just to make a dent in the number of books sat on my Kindle waiting to be read. Which ones I'll get to, how many of them there will be, and what order they'll be read in, even I don't know right now though. Haha!

That's why I don't bother to make one. I tend to just pick what I feel like reading at the time and have a copy of. Hence maki..."

I know what you mean... I have way too many books to remember what they all are. I could really do with going through my Kindle and making a note of the books I have copies of, but haven't yet read. I almost did the other day. But then my Kindle told me how many books it has on it, and I decided to just pick the first book I hadn't read and start reading it instead... Sounded so much more fun! ;)
