Krysta (krystafig) | 4089 comments June 2016 Monthly Challenge – June Facts
Duration: June 1st, 2016 – June 30th, 2016

It's finally summer time!
Well almost anyway; June 20th marks the first day of summer, and we're going to celebrate with a reading challenge! Let's see what else we can learn about this month as we complete tasks based on different facts focused on the month of June.

Challenge Rules:

→ When you sign up for the challenge, please post some kind of a place saver so that I can link you up under the participants. Once you have decided on your books, just edit that post so that the link under the Participants List will go to your list!

→ When you finish reading a book, please edit your post and add the date completed.

→ You may only use each book once in the challenge, but feel free to use the same titles in other challenges!

→ When you complete the challenge, please copy and paste your entire, completed list as a brand new message to make it easier for everyone to see what you've read, and to have your name marked as "completed".

→ If you decide that you've bitten off more than you can chew, feel free to let me know you'd like to downgrade, or even back out of the challenge. Please do not delete the post. It will mess up the links to other participants' postings if you do.

Tasks:

1. According to the Georgian calendar, June is the sixth month and has 30 days. On the Roman calendar, it was considered the fourth month and had only 29 days.
Read a book with 0, 2, 3, or 9 in the total number of pages

2. Spring ends and summer begins around June 20, 21, or 22.
Read the first or last book in a series

3. Flag Day is observed in the United States on June 14. It commemorates the day in 1777 when the Continental Congress adopted the Stars and Stripes as our flag. It then had only 13 stars, to match its 13 stripes.
Read a book whose title begins with a letter found in FLAG DAY

4. Gems for June are the pearl, alexandrite, and moonstone.
Read a book with a cover that is at least 50% white, green, purple, or light blue
Remember to post the cover

5. June was named after the Roman goddess Juno, who is the wife of Jupiter, the protector, the special counselor of the state, and the queen of the gods.
Read a book that contains gods and goddesses, or some sort of monarchy

6. Sunday, June 19th is Father's Day this year.
Read a book written by a male author or with a male as the main character

7. June is a very busy month for weddings.
Read a book that has a wedding or any paranormal romance

8. June has the Summer Solstice, the day with the longest daylight of the year, typically on June 21st.

Krysta (krystafig) | 4089 comments Ashley wrote: "Would a proposal count for the "wedding" task?"

If there is a proposal, is the book a "paranormal romance"? That would also fit that task...

If you don't have a better fit then yes, a proposal will be fine.

message 32: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Basile (smashreads) there is a proposal and an engagement party, but it's a Chicagoland vampire book, which I consider more UF....
