JB (bookjo) | 6 comments Just went exploring for some new info on Hannah Howell and visited her website. Information basically hasn't been updated since 2013. Looks like that happens a lot, and I don't understand it. Seems like an author website - especially once she gets popular would be critical to maintain.

Did a little more scouting under NEWS and found a interview from August 2015. Still lists that as the website. Perhaps (just guessing) she prefers Facebook now, but why leave up old, stagnant info?

This isn't about Hannah Howell per se but more of a general gripe.

“Seated on a panel with her fellow writers, Maltese-Serbian novelist Nataša Pantović has been known to use slam poetry to perform her poetic body of work.
Nataša Pantović at the launch of the novel Tree of Life

"Like her prose, the improvised words, tribal music, percussionist sounds, lengthy ‘aum’ chanting, are neither too preposterous nor too earnest but endlessly curious. A bridge builder between East and West, following ancient archaeological findings, she often dives into historic settings more than 2,000 years back in time.
In her novel, Ama: Playing the Glass Bead Game with Pythagoras, the 52-year-old author makes a bold swerve into less-traveled territory. She chooses for her protagonists  Ama, an African priestess, living in China’s Macao in the 17th century; Ruben, a Portuguese Jesuit priest; and Fr Benedict, an Orthodox Christian.”

About A-Ma Alchemy of Love and Tree of Life with Spiritual Poetry by Nataša Pantović a review at Sunday Times!

Ama or Playing Glass Bead Game with Pythagoras by Nataša Pantović

"Nataša Pantović escolheu como cenário para “A-Ma: Alchemy of Love” a Macau do século XVII e colocou como protagonistas Ama, uma sacerdotisa africana a morar na região, Ruben, um padre jesuíta português e Benedito, um cristão ortodoxo. Ama reunia artistas, pregadores, padres e filósofos de todo o mundo, dentro dos cenários mágicos do seu café. O livro explora o crescimento rápido de Macau, quer nos horizontes das cidades, quer nas mudanças socioeconómicas."

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) I've recently created a new website. The old one was maintained by someone who has almost lost his sight and it wasn't something I could take over. So I created a new one. Downloaded a 'how to' book and 'how to' notes from a super kind Goodreads Friend, and managed to get most of it done. Then it got so stressful and I started worrying that if I kept fiddling, I would mess it up.

So then I thought I'd get a techie in to do it for me. Then we had all the rules and regulations about Covid, then worse still, a lockdown (which we are still in in the UK). Consequently, I have one useless website (which the techie will no doubt reroute to the sparkling new one with a quick twiddle) and one half-finished site.

And that is how it happens...

Indies have to juggle writing, marketing, tech-ing, cooking, cleaning, etc., etc.

New one is www.annafaversham.uk and I hope I've got it to a state that doesn't look too bad. This is the first time I've had the courage (as far as I can remember!) to advertise the web address.

According to the Ancient Egyptian Myth the hieroglyphic script was invented by the God Thoth. We all remember 1,000 distinct characters of formal writing system used by pharaohs. https://www.amazon.co.fr/Spiritual-Sy...

Now, cursive hieroglyphs were used for religious literature on papyrus and wood, this is what researchers now call “the Proto-Canaanite alphabet”, the term used for inscriptions older than around 1050 BC that later evolved into the Phoenician alphabet. https://www.amazon.ca/Spiritual-Symbo...

Lots of countries, governments, scientists, religion leaders wish to claim the invention of the alphabet. What about Vinča's Neolithic (Serbian Danube) pottery scripts also found in China? Vinča's sophisticated carved statues signs, 100s of Canaan letters, Phoenicians Arabic, Ionic, Cyrillic, Aramaic, Chinese, Hebrew. https://www.amazon.co.it/Spiritual-Sy...

“Sinai inscriptions” of 1480 BC offer evidence that 22 Egyptian hieroglyphic symbols were borrowed to form the characters of the future alphabets. A beautiful example was the compilation of the Book of the Dead, “Emerging Forth into the Light”, the loose collection of texts consisting of magic spells helping the dead King or Queen take the place amongst the gods, reuniting with divine father Ra, or mother aNX. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Spiritual-Sy...

Written with ink and a reed brush on papyrus, or leather many famous recently excavated documents, such as the Papyrus of Ani, utilize it. It was also employed on wood for religious literature such as the Coffin Texts. The Egyptians believed that knowing the name of something gave them power over it, so the Book of the Dead gives the mystical names to the entities the soul would encounter in the afterlife, giving him or her power over them. Everyday magic made use of amulets in huge numbers. https://www.amazon.com/Spiritual-Symb...
