I have to say that I totally fell in love with these characters. Mainly between Mim, Walt and Beck. I thought their friendship was endearing and I wanted to see them last forever.
So far - Poncho Man - super creeper! My bro-in-law took the Greyhound once and these characters are the people he described.
So far, I would say that all the characters are definitely representing a type. Each character is so "very" what they are, that they dominate the scenes they are in. This is not a bad thing, just an interesting observation.
No boring characters here!

Great characters, Mim is wonderfully funny, sassy and vulnerable. The oddballs and the seedier characters, like Poncho Man, are great sketches of absurd reality.
I'm torn here. While the characters are interesting, they also come across as caricatures. I feel like the author is OVERLY emphasizing them to the point where I just want to roll my eyes sometimes.

I can see that - I am definitely torn between the characters being "a whole lot" and "too much"

It's basically a character-driven story so they have to be somewhat emphasized. No? I like what Christopher said in that they're "great sketches of absurd reality". :)
Okay......where are the other women in this group?? I need someone to back me up. Hahaha!

There are just times that it is a little too much for me.

Hahahaha! Not......quite.......cuttin' it. :)

I change my mind about these characters. The introduction of Beck a.k.a. 17C and Walt completely balance out Mim........they just took Walt to the Animal Care Center. Now that the three have actually formed a bond, there is a nice roundness to the story.
