Clay (snoweel) Help me find a fantasy book or series with lots of nature. In other words, some interesting natural environments and creatures. I'm talking about the sense of beauty in Lord of the Rings when they come to Lothlorien or Moria, the danger or excitement of traveling through a strange desert or jungle or sailing the seas or scaling the high peaks. Areas full of natural power, held in awe by those around them. Rangers or druids who know the land and its creatures. Interesting animals or monsters with a well-thought-out ecology. Sea serpents? Yetis? Giant sandworms?

Some of my favorite authors are Tolkien, GG Kay, Patrick Rothfuss, Tad Williams, Scott Lynch.

Let see.....
I like Karavans by Jennifer Roberson. It's not quite finished, but maybe in the future. Her Chronicles of the Chesuli, beginning with Shapechangers also in Shapechanger's Song is about a people that can change into various animals.

And another favorite author Patricia A McKillip's The Riddle-Master of Hed. In all its a trilogy...sorcery, mystery.....the rulers have what is called land-rule.

Hope this helps.

It looks like we like a lot of the same stuff and while nothing comes to my mind automatically, I'll be sure to mention something if I think of it. Otherwise, I would be interested in other people's recommendations here as well. :)

Eric The Area X trilogy is all about environments and nature. It has to do with scientists traveling into this strange environment so it's full of descriptions. It's
