Very fun, humorous, and who doesn't love super villains? A bit more of a YA flair but enjoyable for everyone I think.
I'm halfway through. So why wouldn't Steelheart....
(view spoiler)
I like the book a lot but I that's a sticking point for me.
I really enjoyed this! Yes there are some holes here and there, but I didn't really care, it was fun. One of the best YA books I've read.
Yes, definitely a few holes here and there. But what a fun book (and series too). Read this one when it first came out and then read the rest of the series as each was published.
I'm around halfway through the book. And something smells fishy about Megan. Her bipolar attitude rubs me wrong. But maybe that's just me.Overall an easy read and David is pretty funny in his own right. Going by pretty quickly and the overall world building and premise is pretty solid.
Really enjoyed this series. It's nice to read a YA every now and then. You don't have to think as much about what's happening and can enjoy the book.
I felt that Steelheart was simply quite entertaining for the most part, but it still managed to surprise me here and there at the end. Loved MacLeod Andrews' narration! The clumsy way in which he intonated David's metaphors was so amazing.
I'm not finished yet but, i just wanted to say that i found David not very funny at all. I also found that a lot of the important things happening in the story were by pure chance. I dont like that very much. That much said, i still found it a nice reading, entertaining, and original (though at some point I found myself watching an X-men movie or something).
A good book but I couldn't give more then 3 stars.Maybe the YA style is not my cup of tea, but I didn't feel much connection with the characters.
I didn't know what to expect going in because I have high expectations for Brandon Sanderson, but pretty low expectations for YA. It's probably one of the best YA books I've read. I found David hilarious, but I think most all bad jokes are hilarious. Not too many surprises, but there were a few twists and it was entertaining.
Finished the book last night. Solid 4.5 stars. Great team of characters and exciting action. David's girl crush thing was a little eye-rolly at times, but his terrible metaphors were hysterical! I think my favorite character was Cody. I had my suspicions about half-way through about (view spoiler) I was trying to work out the different twists in my head. The wheels were turning. They weren't necessarily surprising.
There are still some unanswered questions about Epics that maybe get answered in the following books.
I liked all the high tech the Reckoners used too. I was kind of reminded of Mission Impossible or James Bond.
Entertaining read, which is a change from Sanderson's usual magical worlds, but I liked the world of Newcago just as much.
This was a fun book to read. I like all the mystery that surrounds the Epics. Knowing Sanderson, we'll have all the answers by the end of the trilogy.

Steelheart byBrandon Sanderson.
