Discuss A Head Full of Ghosts here. Please mark spoilers for those reading along.

Kat (Katlovesbooks) Dietrich (katd59) | 18 comments This was on my list of books I wanted to read, so really glad this was chosen!

Jody (jharcup) I've read this, I though it was a good book

Kandice | 4387 comments I've read it as well but think it will be fun to discuss since it has so many narrative twists and turns.

I just read it in May, and thought it was pretty decent.

Kat (Katlovesbooks) Dietrich (katd59) | 18 comments I am part way through, and thoroughly enjoying it. The characters and narrative seem realistic, and am loving the conversations between the two sisters.

Nancy (paper_addict) | 942 comments I had to put this on hold at the library and it is ready to pick up. So I will be starting this soon.

Lena I enjoyed it. Lots of Shirley Jackson reference, I need to read more of her work. Also, everyone probably already knows this but in case you didn't, it stars our very own Karen Brissette!

Wait! What do you mean about it starring Karen?

Lena Oh good, story time! Karen has known the author for some time and gave him some early review love. I know she's also met him in real life at readings and such. Soooo... he took all that is our Goodreads Karen, captured her voice, and used her as the blogger in the book. If you've ever read her reviews you will have no problem recognizing her, plus that's her real name.

Nancy (paper_addict) | 942 comments I started this today and I am enjoying it so far.

Nancy (paper_addict) | 942 comments Has anyone finished this yet? I finished in the wee early hours this morning I couldn't put the book down. Then I couldn't sleep. My head is still spinning.

Kandice | 4387 comments I've finished. I liked the way we were left unsure what was real and what wasn't.

Nancy (paper_addict) | 942 comments I know! I can't stop thinking about the ending and then everything that came before it and wondering what was real and what wasn't.

Lena I think she did it and the rest of the confusion was shock and life long guilt.

Kandice | 4387 comments Lena wrote: "I think she did it and the rest of the confusion was shock and life long guilt."

Yes, but then you think a little more and you aren't so sure again! At least for me.

That is how I feel. I think she did do it but maybe not understanding what she was doing but then when you go back and think about some of the other things from the police report, it makes you think maybe she didn't but she imagines she did. She can't seperate fact from fiction and I wonder if she is also suffering from mental illness or is possibly possessed.

Tremblay has sure set things up so we aren't really sure what really happened.

Kandice | 4387 comments I absolutely think she did it, but am not sure if she understood, like Nancy said. I love that Tremblay wrote it in a way that allows wiggle room and uncertainty.

Kat (Katlovesbooks) Dietrich (katd59) | 18 comments Well, that was rather mind-numbing. It was a good read. I won't say scary, but disturbing is a good word I think. Certainly leaves you with plenty to think about.

Christina Howard | 1 comments My thoughts... she is the one possessed. How else would you explain why all of theae things only happen when she is with her sister and the fact that the coffee ahop got unexplainably freezing cold when they talked about this happening........

Nancy (paper_addict) | 942 comments 40+ people voted for this book and June is almost over. I would have thought this book would have gotten a lot of discussion.

I think that End of Watch occupied many people's time. Too Bad.

Summer (paradisecity) | 360 comments I've been hearing about this book for a while and I'm glad I finally got a chance to read it. I liked the story, particularly the fact that there were characters who were skeptics, and that there were discussions about mental illness as the culprit. I'm a bit tired of unreliable narrators in general, but this narrative was twisty enough to keep me reading.

The one thing that bothered me were the bits with the blog entries. I feel bad saying this having read above that the character is based on a GRer, but I found the blog posts frustrating to read. I personally couldn't take a blogger seriously if they constantly wrote like a teenager, and it didn't seem like Merry would adopt that kind of persona to write under. It also felt like the author was highlighting all the bits he was most proud of, and I definitely could've done without that. Let me decide what I think is worthy of praise, thanks.

I don't think I'll read this author again, but overall I'm glad to have read this book. Definitely interesting and creepy, with some good food for thought.

I felt the same way about the blog entries. They didn't read like Merry would have written them.

Justin (rockstarintraining) | 1 comments I recently joined the group so missed discussing with you all sooner, but just finished the book!

I thought the blog stuff was a nice step away from the story so give it a unique feel compared to other horror books. I can agree that Merry likely wouldn't write that way, but she's also trying to make sure no one finds out she is the one writing so she would need a different voice on her blog.

Loved the book, and I think Marjorie is definitely to blame here. She may not have been possessed, but she had some issues and apparently wasn't taking meds for it. Her dad going more to religion rather than psychiatry likely made things worse. It's definitely up in the air, but I think it was all her and she tricked Merry in the end.

Me too, but much like in The Exorcist, the real things were almost scarier than the not so real things. That a child could be that mentally messed up!

In the Exorcist it was more a matter of how horrific medicine's approach to her...issue was, but same idea.
