Merit, Chicago’s newest vampire, is learning how to play well with others. Other supernaturals, that is. Shapeshifters from across the country are convening in the Windy City, and as a gesture of peace, Master Vampire Ethan Sullivan has offered their leader a very special bodyguard: Merit. Merit is supposed to protect the Alpha, Gabriel Keene—and to spy for the vamps while she’s at it. Oh, and luckily Ethan’s offering some steamy, one-on-one combat training sessions to help her prepare for the mission.

Merit must accept the assignment, even though she knows that she’ll probably regret it. And she’s not wrong. Someone is gunning for Gabriel Keene, and Merit soon finds herself in the line of fire. She’ll need all the help she can get to track down the would-be assassin, but everywhere she turns, there are rising tensions between supernaturals—not least between her and a certain green-eyed, centuries old master vampire.

Chapters 1-6: (view spoiler)[ I do not see this going well. If it were me, I would say talk to me when I get my life together. OMG!! I really love Ethan and Merit together. She challenges him every time and it is really refreshing to see. Let's just remember, Sullivan, that I want you for your smoked meat and your smoked meats only. Haha....Merit, you should stop fooling yourself. You know you want him bad because you can not hide the expression on your face when you steal glances at him. Ethan, you just do you and she will admit it eventually. What the heck??? He covered her?? I thought she was the one who was supposed to cover him. This is interesting. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 7-12: (view spoiler)[ This book is really interesting. Why?? They were finally getting it on and then BAM! This whole spy business is going is going to put a damper on things now. I want to scream sometimes. OMG!!! I knew it was going to happen, but I thought it was going to be because of the RG business. Ethan is really something. I just want more Merit and Ethan. Chapters 13-18: (view spoiler)[ I love Mallory. Haha...she called Ethan "Darth Sullivan" and I bursted out laughing. It is a very fitting name for the Ethan Sullivan. I am glad that Merit and Mallory made up. That fantasy-like scene was really interesting. I love how cold Catcher and Mallory were to Lacey. What was Ethan thinking by bringing her here!? Tony is dead? I am wondering what will be going on at the convocation. I was thinking that there was something in that package for a second. Your work honors Cadogan House....awww that's really sweet. I feel bad for her because she was never good enough for her dad. (hide spoiler)]

Ending Thoughts: (view spoiler)[ I love how they were pointing out all of Ethan's faults. That is one awesome drinking game, if I might say so. Haha...I love how she called him Liege because it pisses him off. Also I loved the Will there be a tiara? i love how Ethan got mad after learning that they took her to Temple Bar. I love Lindsey! She really grew on me throughout this book. That was one great speech that Ethan gave. Yay! Merit finally stood up for herself. You don't choose to be Apex, the Pack chooses you Wow...honest words from Gabriel. I like his character now too. OMG!!! I am very surprised that she did not accept his offer. I was not expecting that. (hide spoiler)]

Girl, we have two different views on this scene, haha, i wanted the "getting it on" to end ASAP so we can get to spy stuff and you want more of the getting it on! Maybe i'm just weird!
