Shohar apni Biwi ko humsafar samjhay ga
Har mard aurat ko apnay baraabar samjhay ga
Aurat apni qurbaanion ka kuch phal thoray gee
Mard apni Ana ko thora bali charhayay ga

Har shaqs beti ki paidaaish ki dua maangay ga
Zamaana betion waalon par rashk karega
saas apni bahu ko apni beti samjhay gee
Bhai apni behen Kay humrah chalay ga

yateem Kay sar par haath rakha jaayay ga
Bacha maan Kay aanchal mein apna sar chupayay ga
Achai duniya Kay taraazoo mein tholi jaayay gee
Sach ka palla jhoot say bhaari ho jaayay ga

Is khwaab ki tabeer aakhir kab nazar aayay gee

Thank you Mohammad, Amna, Ozair and Awesome for your generous comments. I've written some 16 poems in Urdu, all within the last year. Many of them are posted in the Own Words section.
I wish I had read and understood Urdu more in depth when I was a student. English just does not capture emotion the same way, in poetry at least.
I've only published in English so far, but hopefully will publish the Urdu poetry at some point. Thanks so much for reading.
Please keep the love for Urdu alive.

I actually agree with that(though my Urdu needs serious work),inUrdu it makes sense and it really touches you and in English it just seems like.........gibberish.

The sad part is that Urdu is disappearing slowly..it isn't thought of as a 'cool' language, when in fact it is the coolest and the warmest.

Lara, I just read your poem finally. It is really good..
My urdu reading is very slow.
I personally think all the languages we have currently are uncool and woefully inadequate for the purposes of communication.
Perhaps if nimrod hadn't built the tower and the atlantean experiment hadn't failed... we would be talking to the stars today :(
Music is a good, global language.. but we need something even better.

Thank you Asad. Agree. Languages are inadequate perhaps, but Urdu comes as close to the stars as possible.
