Hmm so here is something that has been on my mind for a long time what is the first Polandry style romance novel? Was it the the Anita Blake series? Anyone know of any older than that series, I've tried googling this to no success!
That is an interesting question Bookishcat, I wish I knew!!
My first experience of that (kind of) was Beatrice Small's Hetar books where Lara loved 2 men and got to be with both - but not at the same time. It was a bit of a revelation bcos it felt like the h got to have her cake and eat it too and that was not common for many books at that time!
I have read mainstream fiction with polygamy and even polyandry - The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, where the H was in a polyandrous relationship with the woman he loved but I can't recall anything older than the last 5 years.
I am sure older romantic fiction where a woman had multiple lovers at the same time must exist - given polyandry actually flourished in many cultures for centuries like in say, Nepal etc. I hope I find out, whoever wrote it is a pioneer in my book, lol!

I tend to think of Ménage which originally came out in 1998. LKH danced around menage and poly for a while. Her menage and poly was dysfunctional for several books until she could do poly in real life herself.Emma Holly's menage back in 1998 was the first one I read where I could see the possibilities instead of the fantasy.
Oh, I forgot to mention all the anonymous books I used to read from Publisher Black Lace which contained poly too. I was so sad when that company closed shop.

^_^ - she was one of the first authors I could find that wrote contemporary erotica with just the right amount of realism.
BC, Here are some of the details about the series, it wasn't too bad as I recall:
http://www.bertricesmall.com/hetar.shtml
And wasn't there a Greek goddess who had two lovers at the sametime and they knew about each other? - or was that a husband and lover - I forget....
BA, I was sad too when Black Lace closed, in a way it (and Jasmine Jade) were pioneers in the romantica business.
LKH esp. in Anita was dysfunctional! I used to follow her blog for years so I know what you mean. I stopped reading that series though Anita is still my no.1 h, she was so genuinely kickass, no-one can beat her. But I still love my Merry books, I haven't read the latest one out bcos I've heard its not that great, but the older books are gold,IMO.

@ Talltree - I like the Merry Books. I still read all the Anita Blake books. The writing is just eh. I read it for the porn.

Lol, I'm glad someone is still reading them. I truly do love LKH and wish all her books become bestsellers!! She does great and atmospheric sex scenes too, if I recall right! I've yet to find a writer who writes PNR/UF so well - gritty, a bit dark and top notch; Christine Feehan comes close for me and so does Ilona Andrews but they're MF. I can't recall any great series with polyamory in PNR/UF thats of that calibre...

All three write PNR/UF gritty with better plot development and world building. They are well edited as well. The kink factor in Morgan Hawke, especially her interstellar discipline is off the charts. Morgan does some space opera too.
C.E. Murphy is hard hitting UF - all her series. Faith is more PNR than UF.
An amazing writer with less sex but dark, gritty, well developed and fabulous characters - Devon Monk.
One of my favourite writers is Keri Arthur. Her PNR are dark and oh so good. She's also an author who writes very tight storylines and she ENDS her series. As in... you get 7 and that's it. No more. Kills me.
If you haven't tried Jacqueline Carey, you are missing out on some of the most amazing erotic fantasy series. The first Kushiel triliogy is out of this world. We are talking, I have never found another author in all the books I've read who have created a world as complex and amazingly thought out as she has. The descriptions, the characters, oh, god, the sexual tension w/o mentioning BDSM is beyond description.

Thank you Bookaddict! Of the authors you've mentioned I've read Riley Jensen and loved it, you're right Keri Arthur is one author who sticks to her story arc and doesn't drag it out!!
I will defly try the others starting with Kushiel's Dart!!

On another note , does anyone know of any nice MFM/MMF movies or TV shows which end on a menage HEA?
I enjoyed Splendor (rom-com with MFM HEA) and am thinking of checking out My Wife Got Married...

This will be interesting. I have only seen a Mfm movie which did not end in a HEA or even HFN - Threesome.

I didn't know there were any movies or tv shows!!! The only movie I knew of was savages and it had kind of a ambiguous ending that the three might get back together...that movie was so gory though

I found a link - I've seen some of these. And then I remembered Henry and June. That was a good movie.https://www.themoviedb.org/keyword/31...

Yes Savages was gory and the ending I don't even remember it but it was nice seeing a menage relationship in a somewhat mainstream movie.

Henry and June was FMF wasn't it? It looks beautiful though!! Thanks for the list BA, I think I will check out that Cold Showers movie, it looks interesting and I think it has a menage HEA:)

Yes, she was kind of a pioneer lol, but it has really caught up and now so many people are writing menages, thank god! Lol. But I'm glad she is still keeping up more than a decade later. I like her billionaire bad boy series and am planning to read her latest Lord & Master
soon!!

The Billionaire Bad Boys Club. It's a horrible name but the story is awesome. :D

LKH was my first menage read too Malinda!! She is awesome, wish she were more popular now. Other authors who came after her are now ruling the PNR roost....
I apologise for being away from the new group, I've had an interesting end of the month!
On another note lets talk love triangles! I hate them, it just makes the people sound indecisive and weak. So many times I've wished they would end up a menage and call it a day, lol!! So what books/characters have you read that you wished would end up in a menage???!! Do share!

Oooh, I completely get you about the Vampire Diaries!! That guy is so hot....totally agree about the missed opportunity thing;)
For me it was Eve with Jack and Death in Kresley Cole's Arcana Chronicles. I felt the h loved both H's equally - and I couldn't choose one of them, lol - so I wanted the h to pick both the guys!!

Love triangles are kinda the bane of my existence I don't get them!! I'm convinced everyone should all be together lol. I donot know if it's just me but I always choose the wrong guy who doesn't get picked and then I'll be grumpy for days.

Lol!! I choose the wrong guy too, I always choose the evil villain type who is stalkerishly obsessed with the h, while she ends up with the bland good guy:((
Anyway I'm eagerly awaiting Arcana 4, can't wait for next month to read

I agree, I've loved Ménage, Beck & Call + Lord & Master, and Bad Boys Club. Hidden Depths (which is MMFM actually) and Strange Attractions are very good too.
She's got threesomes in quite a few other books. I particularly like the one in Velvet Glove.
Hi Tilly, what was your take on Beck and Call, some reviews said it was just okay, so I'm not sure what to think?
Talltree wrote: "Hi Tilly, what was your take on Beck and Call, some reviews said it was just okay, so I'm not sure what to think?"Hi Talltree, I really liked Beck & Call, and the sequel Lord & Master. I have complained somewhere here about the damsel in distress thing but in this book it actually works really well. The main 3 characters all have depth and are interesting, and I like the characters in the background.
I've never articulated a review for a book properly so this is a bit difficult. I just think Emma Holly's books are well written, the sex scenes are always amazing, she doesn't resort to the stereotypical adjectives. There's some dominance thrown in (not in the case in Bad Boys Club for instance) but it's really good, it really gives it an edge, a tension. It's not 'you're our woman and will do as we say'/thumps chest and smacks bottom kind of thing.
The billionaire hero is an interesting antithesis of the wealthy philanderer. And thanks to the other male hero, I will never think of bondage the same way again!
Actually, I've just read BookishCat's review here and I agree with everything, but too many spoilers!
I'm so excited,
Thunderclaw is LIVE today( and also on KU, I think). Its a book thats been ages in the making, can't wait to see early reviewers opinion of it. I'm a bit nervous because the Hero has a harem of 600 and is a hedonist of the first order so not exactly sure how he's going to be happy being loyal to only one human woman( and the other guy, since this is MMF)....I'd love to hear anyones opinion on the book!

Oh yeah, harem of hundreds of both men and women of all kinds of alien species performing all sorts of salacious acts on the guy!! - I'm thinking what would be the incentive for a hedonist to trade it all in for monogamy, lol?!;)

I agree, I see no incentive, how can one person measure up to that? lol...can't wait for your review on this one! ;)
Well, tbh I'm waiting for the early reviews on this one before reading.
Venomous was so awesome that I think I have over-large expectations for this one....

Hello All, any good recommendations on a reading centered around a BBW ?
Hello, I have a MMF novella coming out March 7th. I was wondering if anyone is interested in an ARC, in exchange for a review when the book comes out? Message me if interested!
