Land teams mini challenge
Just for Fun! While waiting for wobble to start
Books with a READ date of June 8-16 and 100 pages or more count.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
To Play:
Read books with:
- Land animals in the title (max. 2 per book) for 20 points each
- Land animals in the book as characters (max. 5 per book) for 10 points each
- Land animals mentioned in the book (max. 5 per book) for 5 points each
- Land animals on the cover for 10 points (max. 5 per book)
BONUS: Read a book that someone on a different land team has read for 20 points!
Notes:
*Shapeshifters DO count.
*If a land animal is being claimed as a character, it can not also be counted as a "mention".
*When reading a book a team member from another land team has read, it may have a read date before or during this mini challenge
You CAN mix and match for lots of points.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
For example:
Land animals in the book as characters (Derek-wolf, Curran-lion, Jim - Jaguar, Andrea - Hyena, Barabas - Mongoose): 50 points
Land animal (lion) on the book: 10 points
Bonus: Someone {name} on Land team {name} has read for 20 points
So my book is worth 80 points! (50+10+20)
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Remember: This is NOT for Wobble points, it is just for fun and to get to know your fellow Land team players.
Land teams are:
Slender Loris
Tapir
Red Panda
Plumed Basilisk
Hi everyone! I am excited to participate in the Wobble Challenge. It's been awhile since I've participated in a NBRC challenge! My name is Nancy. I live in the suburbs of New York City. I have two kids, 10 and almost 8. Can't wait for this challenge to begin!
Hi, everyone! This is my first NBRC challenge - I signed up because I'm friends with Plethora in other groups/twitterworld & she mentioned the challenge. I thought it looked like a lot of fun! I'm excited to start.
I live in the Pacific NW - Portland metro area & I'm married with two kids. My daughter just turned 20 & my son is 16. I'm delighted to be part of Team Tapir!
hi.. I'm miranda I live in Michigan I have a 4yr old son.. I love YA books.. I'm ready for this challenge..
Hi everyone...I led Moonlight to this challenge. I hail from the same neck of the woods as her.Tower Teams was my first NBRC Challenge last year and I loved it. Can't wait to get started on this fun.
Hope you are all spending some time looking at your current reads for Land Animals. For the mini-fun before we officially start the book only has to be completed during the period, not like the official wobble books that must be started after wobble starts.
Hi everybody! I'm from Ohio and have a 21yr old son (who thinks I'm slightly crazy because of how excited I get for these challenges). I can't wait to get started.
Hi Team Tapirs!I'm from New York and have 5 kids/adults and they all know how crazy I am about GR and my books. I have been in quite a few challenges for NBRC and also have been captain in a few too. The challenges are fun and crazy but you will all have a great time.
I just wanted to give you lovely ladies a heads up, I'll be away for a short trip on Sunday, June 12- Wednesday, June 15th and I'm not yet sure about the wifi situation but my lovely co-captains will be here to help with any questions you may have and there is also our lovely Mentor Karen as well.
Welcome again and please make sure that no matter what we all have a fun time.
I forgot to mention that this month my exams are from the 21-24th. I'll be reading during that time but probably not posting on here as much. The only other team challenge I've done with this group is Tower Teams and I had a blast so I'm excited for when this starts.

No worries Ashley, as long as you put it in your shelf as completed I can put it in the spreadsheet.
Team Tapir has been pretty quiet! Am I the only one on the team whose never done a NBRC challenge? What should I look forward to with the group? My book so far isn't giving me anything to work with for the land teams mini-challenge. I may have to go scour my bookshelves for something more promising!
Moonlight Reader, I've done a couple of NBRC challenges, but most of them were awhile ago. Things should definitely pick up once the challenge begins. There will probably be a lot of discussions regarding what books people are reading that will fit the requirements of each challenge. I'm not sure if I will have time to read a book for the land animal challenge. I'm trying to finish up my current reads before the challenge begins!
It will get busier once the challenge starts and we need to coordinate plans for meeting the tasks/goals.I have been checking in and reading the post but have been a little pressed for time and haven't been answering as frequently as usual for me.
I am pushing to finish the last bit of Kristin Lavransdatter, Part 1: The Wreath because it has multiple mentions of land animals so I can post points.
Nice start for the mini challenge Ange! I think all the land teams are still getting organized so we can start posting points by team to see how we stack up.
Yeah it is pretty quiet here but like Nancy, I'm trying to catch up on some of my current challenges and working in other group challenges as well before I'm away for a few days. Moonlight Reader I've been on quite a few challenges here on NBRC and they are pretty fun. Some get the hang of it quickly, others get a bit confused but the team tend to help each other out and we have a lot of fun too. I know the chatter is quiet now but once the game starts there will be so much chatter that you are going to hope you didn't miss anything. Well I hope we have a chatty group. Chatty groups are fun :)
I am finishing up
It should definitely be worth some points. I'll post sometime in the morning or afternoon :)
I'm really hoping for a chatty team too. The past few challenges I've done here the teams have been so quiet I barely knew I was on a team...lol
I just added your points to the Land Mini-Challenge Spreadsheet Ange. There is a max of 5 animals mentions so 25 points instead of 30 for that category.

LINK TO MINI-CHALLENGE RANKING SHEET
Check out the rankings for the mini-challenge HERE. You can also use this to see what the other teams are reading for the extra 20 points category.
With Ange's points we moved into 2nd place.

I hear such good things about that series but haven't had a chance to get to it. I hope to get to it soon.
I am going to finish a book today but I started before this mini challenge starts so I wasn't aware of the whole land animal thing. I will try to scour for some points though.
Miranda Please post in this thread for mini challenge:
Captains will need to manually update spreadsheet for this mini.
