I have a few questions about historical fiction novels. I want to write a book based in the 16th century during Mary Queen of Scots rule. However, this is what i want it to be about: I want to create a fictional character named Reina who is mary's sister. (Remember this is fictional) and she is a queen of another country, etc.
The questions I want answered are: 1. Does it have to be based completely on historical events even though the character I created is fake but Mary's character would be real? 2. Would it be illegal copyright if I get ideas from the tv show Reign?
