Good idea Elizabeth! I would personally recommend anything by Jackie Kay and The Gracekeepers by Kirsty Logan for those into queer magic realism.
Also The Hourglass Factory by Lucy Ribchester. She writes great historical adventure stories, which would not normally be my kind of thing, but I've just finished her second novel The Amber Shadows

I thought we could kick off the chat with any recs from Grrrl Con authors that you came across while up in Edinburgh or any that you're planning to read?
To my shame I haven't read anything by Jackie Kay (!) But got my hands on a copy of Why Don't You Stop Talking: Stories her first collection of short stories and am looking forward to starting it.
My personal recommendation from the Con would be Kirsty Logan's The Rental Heart and Other Fairytales - really enjoyable, fresh way of looking at fairytales/mythology!
