YAY! How far along are you so far, Tanya? What do you think so far? I love how this is telling a completely different side of a story that everyone knows so well. A sad story, but so beautiful in many ways too.
I started this on audio but the last 30% I switched to print because audio wasn't going fast enough and i had to find out what happened next!
I wasn't sure at the beginning. I couldn't figure out how the 4 POVs were connected.
It started coming together for me when Joana patched up Florian. I loved Joana from the beginning.
And the Shoemaker Poet!! What a wonderful character!

I'm 44% through and I'm enjoying it. Florian is slightly annoying but the other characters stories are so interesting to listen to.

Ha, Florian. He doesn’t seem to know what he wants. He was an enigma for sure!
Alfred.... He was so annoying to me.

Alfred, oh gosh! What a character! So crucial to the events that unfolded, and yet such a nutter. A sociopath maybe? Definitely missing some screws.

Definately had to be a sociopath!!
Definately had to be a sociopath!!
He didn't annoy me so much as scared me. It's scary that there are really people like him out there! But I DID find his story to be very interesting and it was one of my favorite parts :)
He did scare me slightly and in the words of Florian... he was a sociopath in the making. I have finished this and I love it. Only downside is that I wish I didn't space out the audiobook as much as I did. The ending was so heartbreaking.
Awesome! So glad you enjoyed it! And yeah, Florian describe him well, total sociopath in the making!
The shoemaker was especially heartbreaking for me! :( So glad you enjoyed this as much as we did!! :)
Me too it was so heartbreaking :( Especially when Klaus shouted Opi! I'm glad I loved it too as it's the first WW2 book I've read and I've been wanting to read more books this era but haven't had a chance until now :)
I teared up a lot toward the end of the book. Extremely well written. Well, you started with a good one. I would recommend The Book Thief next. SO GOOD
