Hermione sighed as the train pulled to a stop. One glance at the window brought her smile to emerge once again. A slight shiver crept up her spine at the thought of how many times she didn't think she would end up seeing it again give how many times Harry had been targeted by Voldemort. Her long hair swept around her shoulders as she stood and departed the compartment. Without reason to stay, having been Ron's behavior before Hermione whisked away to the assembly hall all up to the corridor where she quickly unpacked and began sorting many times.
Nathan headed off the train and collected his luggage. Once he had it he followed the long train of people through Hogsmeade and into the woods. He looked around for the girl he had seen early. He finally spotted her and tried to make eye contact with her. The forest was quite amazing he had to admit. It was huge and everything seemed ancient it had an ominous feeling to it. Up ahead he noticed there was a long line of carriages sitting in perfect rows. They all had weird fleshy looking animals attached to them and that puzzled him slightly.
Hermione climbed into one of the carriages with nothing pulling them like usual. Sighing she took a seat while Ron and Harry were already on their way in another one. Her gentle docile blue eyes scanned the surrounding. Memories of helping Harry's god father escape from the ministry flooded happily back into her mind and a small smile appeared upon her lips. Hermione's hands wrapped themselves neatly upon her lap as she waited for the ride to begin.
Nathan continued walking until he reached the carriages. He looked around for one to get in and spotted the girl with the golden hair sitting alone in one. Relieved that he had finally found her alone he walked over to her carriage and climbed in swinging the door shut behind him. He just stared at her for a moment unsure of what to say. She just had a way of throwing him off of his guard although he wasn't sure why. "My name is Nathan." He said finally trying his best to smile at her.
Hermione looked up at him, her eyes rising from her twirled fingers. "Hi Nathan. i'm Hermione Granger." She smiled in a friendly manner at him. "I haven't seen you in the years I have attended Hogwarts-are you new?" Hermione's brown eyes seemed to sparkle with curiosity. She leaned forwards slightly intent upon capturing his every word. She wondered what house he was. Not Slytherin she told herself considering how open he appeared. Nathan couldn't help but smile as she leaned in closer. Everything about her just seemed right. He leaned in to mimicking her movements. "It's nice to meet you to Hermione, and yeah I am new here. I actually just transferred from Durmstrang." He finished slowly. He hoped she wouldn't judge him for going to that school he didn't know why but he really wanted her to like him. He continued to smile at her and started at her eyes they were so beautiful he couldn't help but stare at them whenever he tried to look away it was like some invisible force pulled his attention back to them.
"What's it like there?" Hermione asked hoping her curiosity wasn't intrusive on his privacy. If he was a Slytherin-she hoped not-he could easily demand to know her bloodline and then shun her like Draco did. Thoughts like that made her wary around the new comer but her faith in the school brought her confidence back. "I hope Hogwarts can match your standards," She adds her eyes wandering around the first as the carriages begin heading to the school.
Nathan thought for a moment. "It's a pretty dark place." He said at last. "They really just care about making their wizards into warriors and there is not any girls so that's also a bit strange. Don't worry, from what I have seen I think Hogwarts will far exceed my expectations." He finished smiling at her since she was the primary reason he liked being here already.
Hermione sighed slightly. At times it felt like we were warriors, she thought, given how many encounters they had with he who should not be named. "I'm pleased to hear that. Hogwarts has been nothing more than a wild ride," She laughed gently her blue eyes skimming the forest and more. Soon the trees parted and they came across a great school. "We're here," She said her eyes widening slightly at the sight of a place she considered her home.
Nathan looked up in surprise. He had heard stories about the Hogwarts castle from the older boys who had visited for the Triwizard tournament but he had never imagined it would be this big. It seemed to rise high into the clouds. "Wow this is amazing." He whispered as he looked up at the old school.
"Wait until you're inside-its unimaginable," She awed like a little child at the castle. "I hope you enjoy your time here Nathan," She said gently as the carriage began to slow. Up ahead students were exiting the carriages and leaving some of there things. Hermione smiled, placing a hand on Nathan's shoulder she squeezed reassuringly. "Would you like a tour?" She was curious considering how the moving staircases changed direction without warning and the numerous dangerous creatures Hagrid crept around the grounds of the school. (hide spoiler)]
"I bet." Nathan said looking up the castle in awe. He felt something slightly cool touch his shoulder and he looked over to see Hermione's hand there. The sight made him feel weird like both excited and happy at the same time. Her touch was both tender yet caring at the same time. He smiled at her never wanting her to let go. "Yeah I would love a tour." He admitted. He usually would have refused a tour because he preferred discovering things himself but he knew absolutely nothing about the school and he definitely wanted to spend more time with her, so today he would make an exception to his rule.
The carriage pulled to a stop and Hermione removed her hand. "Ok," She sighed happy to get to the corridor of Gryffindor. She hoped off with her belongings and looked over her shoulder. "You oughta get settled and after 3 I'd love to take you on a tour," She smiled. Hermione blew out and breathed deeply. The smell that the freshly cut grass was almost intoxicating. "I'll see you soon Nathan!" She waved heading after her friends she swiftly made it across the grounds and was beside Harry and Ron who were happy to see that she had returned to them.
A wistful look crossed Nathan's face as she ran off. He looked after her longingly for a moment. He had really enjoyed her company and he hadn't wanted her to leave but it looked like he had no choice in the matter. Sighing to himself h hoped off the carriage and retrieved his belongings he strode forward and headed up the stairs to the portrait of the fat lady. He had already received the password so he said it and walked into the Gryfindor common room. A fire was already burning in the hearth and all of the walls were adorned with red banners. He looked around before finding the stairs and headed up them. When he reached the fifth year dormitory he went in. Inside he claimed a bed next to the window and proceeded to put away all of his stuff. (hide spoiler)]
