Walter Spence (walterspence) | 707 comments Going to have to check Saga out. I love good graphic novel tales. Have an almost complete Warp Graphics run of the original black and white Elfquest series, only missing issue #2.

And also put The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms on my To-Read list. This is one of the things I like about Sword and Laser; ever since I let my Locus subscription lapse many moons ago, this has become how I increase my familiarity with more modern authors (as opposed to writers like Patricia A. McKillip and works like The Forgotten Beasts of Eld).

Rob (quintessential_defenestration) | 1035 comments I think this might be my favorite episode if season 2. What a wonderful interview! I too will be adding her stuff to my ever growing to read list.

Dylan Perry (dylan-perry) Great interview. I'm definitely gonna check out The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms.

terpkristin | 4425 comments Another great interview. I didn't care for The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms and, between their first interview with her back then and this one, I feel bad about that. Maybe I should give her other series a try.

I also really liked this interview. I was liking N.K.J a lot already, then she mentions that she loves Saga, Fiona Staples' art and is also a socialist. :-)

This has got me excited to go back and check her other books.
Someone needs to convince Fiona Staples to collaborate on a N.K.Jemisin graphic novel series.

You won't be disappointed. Saga is both "Sword" and "Laser" and is in my opinion a literary modern classic.

message 7: by Tamahome (new)

Tamahome | 7340 comments Guess I should watch Under the Dome June 30th again, since Brian K. Vaughan (Saga) is the show runner. Stephen King writes the teleplay too.

message 8: by Rob (new)

Rob (quintessential_defenestration) | 1035 comments I'm not sure we can count saga as a classic yet,, since it's incomplete. But Y: the last man most definitely is. Everything that man writes is golden.

message 9: by Tamahome (new)

Tamahome | 7340 comments Fiona Staples said on Talking Comics that Saga will never end.

message 10: by Kris (new)

Kris (kvolk) Nora is a wonderful interview. I hope she gets her movie deal!

"Walking Dead" and "A Song of Ice and Fire". Modern Classics and Incomplete. But I take your point, we need to see how it finishes. I agree with "Y", an amazing series.

Skye | 7 comments Inspiring interview. I'll be checking her out (and x'ing my fingers for that movie deal!).

Casey | 654 comments Finally had a chance to watch this. Great stuff!
Thank you for all the great interviews, and those whiteboards are the tops!

Dara (cmdrdara) | 2702 comments I'm so behind on all of the videos but finally watched this one. Nora was a wonderful guest! She's so thoughtful about her answers and I loved hearing about how she creates her worlds and her stories. I also appreciate how outspoken she is about diversity in SFF. Thanks for asking her my question! Great interview.

message 15: by Jack (new)

Jack (Reader Reborn) (readerreborn) I'll definitely be checking out her new book when it hits the shelves.

Her most recent (The Fifth Season) was excellent and one of my favorite reads last year.

I second that. I got all excited when this thread showed up in my notifications thinking it was a new interview. I'm on pins and needles waiting for the sequel to The Fifth Season.
