"Super ridiculously unfair!" Bryant agreed, enthusiastic at ever. It wasn't surprising that Bryant was still in a good mood, even though he had a good amount of reasons not to be. First of all, he was patrolling. And patrolling sucked, just because it was endless walking up and down the halls because there might be a rebel and all that dumb stuff, but obviously there wasn't because wouldn't you have caught it by the third walk? or the thirteenth? Why must we walk the same hall a hundred times?
Second, Marco was right. And it wasn't that that sucked, it was what he said. Nick was out meeting his new thirty-five girlfriends, and they were stuck here. What the heck? Bryant wanted to meet the selected too! It was completely unfair that everyone else got to meet the selected and Marco and Bryant had to walk the hall again. Why must we walk the hall of shame???
And lastly, Bryant was pretty sure he put his pants on backward. Again. But there was no fixing that, so he had to live with it.
"I want to meet the selected, Marco," Bryant stated, looking over to his curly haired friend. "Can't we just go and say Arthur told us to... patrol?" Bryant wasn't exactly begging, more like asking nicely, but it sounded like begging.
Bryant still remembered the day he was told he would have to work with Marco and be the personal guard for the Prince. Bryant hadn't been too excited about it, as he didn't think Nick would end up being, well Nick and he didn't think Marco would end up being Maternal Marco. Mostly he didn't think he would find two best friends within that mess. But he did. Or maybe he found a mom and a brother?
Eh, either of those was pretty awesome.
A frown found Bryant's face when Marco said no, but then he laughed because Marco laughed too. And if Marco was laughing, he should too right? Marco then mentioned how everyone would probably assume they were trying to seduce the selected, and Bryant laughed again. Everyone always assumed that was what they were up to, but it usually wasn't Bryant just wanted to ask a maid to do his laundry, not go out with him.
Some of that took it that way, though, they got all red in the face and stuttered. Why did they do that? It wasn't like it was a big deal, it was just Bryant asking for her to wash his clothes. Did they smell bad or something? No, Bryant wasn't smelly! He puts on deodorant!
Bryant's attention was snapped back to reality when Marco turned to him, speaking again about how awful patrols are. "Really? I think they're second worst. To me, keeping guard is the worst. And not like, the walk up and down the staircase one, but the one where Arthur tells you to stand in front of that door and just stand there. That one sucks, a lot."
Did Marco just glare at that door? Oh, Marco, you're so funny! Honestly, where would Bryant be without Marco? Probably sulking in front of the treasury, without pants specifically. Marco was like, this grand old guy that Bryant was in love with, in a totally platonic way, though. No, Bryant wasn't gay like those other guards? You know, the ones that liked Bryant and Marco but definitely not like how Bryant liked Marco.
Which was exactly why Bryant was rarely given shifts with other guards now. They totally creeped him out and got a little too weird when Bryant said he wasn't interested in making out with them, closet or not.
So Bryant just complained to Arthur for a good twenty-seven hours before he agreed to give him shifts with Marco. He would've given him some alone ones, but I think we can all agree an alone Bryant is a disaster waiting to happen.
Without Marco, Bryant would be unclothed and unprepared. And most likely tied up and on a rebel's back.
But yeah, keeping guard makes sense. "Yeah, that makes sense I guess. Besides, a rebel could just come and sneak in after we walk the hall. At least, that's what I would do if I were a rebel." Bryant explained, shrugging. Bryant liked to think he would be a good rebel. He would sneak in and draw a mean picture of the royals on the wall with ugly crayons. And then, he would break the crayons. That ought to show them he means business.
