Caleb knew he should be out. He should be listening to that meeting, the third one this week, all about the selected and how to behave correctly in the halls. But he didn't want to listen to that again, he didn't even want to be here. He would rather attend another meeting about the correct way to bathe tiger cubs rather than whatever it was that Arthur was currently talking about. Don't get him wrong, Arthur was a nice guy, he was just too... demanding? Maybe.

So Caleb camped out in the barracks. Yeah, it wasn't the most professional thing he could do, and it wasn't exactly a perfect hiding place either, but it was good enough for him. Besides, it wasn't like he was waiting for someone, the way some of the other guards did. No, Caleb had no interest in that kind of stuff. That and everyone was just so annoying. All Caleb wanted to do was lay in his bed and take a nap, and they were all so loud. But thankfully, the time had come. First, however, he wanted to see if things were actually happening already, the way Arthur said they would. So he went to peak out of the window, green eyes searching before they spotted a few vans--no doubt reporters from the more popular magazines, probably just trying to get a glimpse of the selected. But why? They were literally just about of random girls in dresses pretending to be princesses "Ever heard of a pageant show, Illea?"

Ah, shit. Caleb thought he was alone, he was hoping he was anyway. He was so annoyed by everyone, but no, let's just have some other guard come and pester him about where he was for that damned meeting. And did it really matter? It wasn't as if Caleb hadn't been at the meeting two days ago, where Arthur said the exact same things that he probably reiterated today, just with more force because today was the big day. It was a shame Caleb didn't care.

"Depends who's asking." Caleb started, glancing over to see who even was asking. It was another guard, obviously, his name was something that ended with -an. Nathan? Dylan? Bryan? No, none of those were right... All Caleb could recall about this guy was that he was freakishly smart, like that, he was actually some college student even though he was only eighteen, and not the 'I'm a freshman in college!' type but the 'I'm pretty much graduated and already know what I'm doing.' type. But that was beside the point. "If Arthur's asking, I was covering someone's shift in the gardens. If it just a guard, I was here, sleeping my life away. Anything is better than those damned meetings." Well, not anything, but napping definitely.

Caleb's green eyes glittered with both exhaustion and interest. The latter of the two always was around when he met someone new, his mind usually being concerned with figuring out the person and most of their traits before his interest died out and next thing you know he looks at you with those same green eyes but you see nothing but digust and boredom. The only things to always get interest were the animals.

"It was more of a guess, really. I just figured, whenever people want to know where someone went, they don't really look at where the person started. They think about the options of where they want rather than the idea that they didn't leave at all. Simple things like that." Was that what Caleb thought? Sort of. It barely made any sense and Caleb kind of sucked with words, but whatever. There were more important matters at hand

"What're you doing here anyway?" Caleb asked, giving the what he now noticed to be a good looking guard a sideways glance
