I finished Angelfall today. It was an interesting kind of apocalypse. I like Penryn and Raffe, so it was enjoyable traveling with them and getting to know them. I also enjoyed the comic relief from the twins. (view spoiler) I'm looking forward to learning more about this world in Book 2.

AmbWitch I had mixed feelings for this. Overall I really enjoyed this book and are looking forwards to next month so I can pick up the next one. I really liked the characters of Penryn (and love her name) and Raffe and are deeply invested in their fate. I also enjoyed the angel politics towards the end and how the human race are doing their best to survive while the angels are living in luxury. My favourite part? (view spoiler).

There were however, things that really annoyed me, such as the portrayal of Penryn’s mother who reminded me of the schizophrenic stereotypes that we are supposed to be getting rid of. It was also incredibly annoying how a few pages in when we first meet Raffe, he is described as being different than the other angels. As soon as that was said I thought to myself ahh, here’s the love interest and rolled my eyes.

I was so busy in July with other reads that I'm just now getting to this. Only 10 chapters in. The writing is fast-paced which makes for a fun experience. I'll be back with more details once I've finished it; but, my initial feeling is that this will be an interesting spin on the idea of angelology.
