I'm taking this from the original article on Deadline
Hot off its multibillion-dollar deal with Lionsgate, Starz is heading back to Comic-Con later next month with a new property and a veteran. No Outlander this year, but the cabler’s American Gods and Ash vs. Evil Dead will be at the San Diego Convention Center on SDCC weekend.
Adapted from Neil Gaiman’s acclaimed 2001 novel — a Comic-Con favorite — American Gods will be making its debut in Room 6BCF at 3:15 PM July 22. Gaiman, an EP on the 2017-premiering show, will be there along with showrunner Bryan Fuller, an SDCC alum from his Hannibal days. Joining the duo will be castmembers Ian McShane, Ricky Whittle plus Yetide Badaki, Pablo Shreiber, Bruce Langley and EP Michael Green. I hear footage of the series will be shown, though no indication yet if it is a full-on trailer or a tease. Though Gaiman won’t be there, some of the Gods gang also will be signing autographs at the Starz booth on the convention floor that same day at 4:45 PM.

I'm happy with Starz adaptations of novels to tv series and the cast is very good. I have yet to read a Neil Gaiman novel, but I did love the "Stardust" movie and I'm planning on reading the book soon. I've heard a lot of good comments about American Gods, so maybe it will follow Stardust!

Same here, I've only seen the Stardust movie. I recently picked up one of his audiobooks.
I hope to get to it this month. He's such a popular author...I hope his fans will like the series adaptation.

I'm super excited for American Gods! I love his works & have read a bunch of his novels but haven't read American Gods yet. There's also a sequel to that book so it makes me think of this series does well they might do the 2nd book as a series too! I loved the Neverwhere adaptation the BBC did a few years back, and Stardust was done well too. I hope someone does The Ocean at the End of the Lane as a movie also!

Theresa you're in luck, or maybe we all are...The Ocean at the End of the Lane is in development. It's very early so who knows if it will ever develop or when. I'll keep you updated.
Until then this info is from 2013 so it may no longer be accurate:
Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman‘s will produce, along with Wright and Paul Webster‘s Shoebox Films.
Two more Neil Gaiman books have also been in development since around 2013: Disney and Ron Howard are currently working on a live-action adaptation of Gaiman’s The Graveyard Book.
The Sandman is also in development.

Wowza! I can't wait to see any & all of them eventually! As long as they stay true to the writing & Gaimans vision they will turn out amazing!

I have another one for you. Neil Gaiman's "Likely Stories" is currently airing in the UK. Maybe it will air on BBC America or Netflix?
Neil Gaiman's Likely Stories: A collection of extraordinary stories from international award winning novelist and screenwriter Neil Gaiman.Set in London, these four 30-minute short stories will be characteristically dark and strange whilst also drawing on the deftly crafted characters' human warmth and wit. Centering on the act of storytelling, viewers will be drawn into Neil's intricately crafted world that moves seamlessly between reality and fantasy.

If not Netflix it will be Prime or Hulu. Since it's Starz, they don't rely on ratings they rely on new subscribers so you'll probably just have to wait a little longer to watch. Hopefully they will release to stream after the first season.

Neil Gaiman is On Fire in Hollywood right now. Another book is being adapted with Hamilton's producer set to produce with Neil Gaiman.
This one is very early. The project was just announced today. It sounds like they want all these productions announced for Comic Con where "American Gods" is being promoted and plenty of fans will be attending. Gaiman fans will go crazy.
The articles I read did not say if it was to be a TV show or a movie, but it did mention the production company has already had success with “Mr. Robot” and Syfy’s “The Magicians.” So my guess would be that it will be a TV show.
Oh wow!! That's part of a series of books so I'm guessing of its a tv show they'll hopefully do all 3 books

I'm happy for you and all the Neil Gaiman fans. Hopefully, every adaptation (TV or Movie) will be fantastic. He's so popular.
I'm still planning on listening to Neverwhere. I'm hoping to get to it next week. I really want to like it so I can be a Neil Gaiman fan too.

Let me know how you like it! I haven't listened to Neverwhere on audiobook but I did read it in graphic novel version & watched the BBC tv special movie they had for it years ago. Also listen to The Ocean at the End of the Lane if you get a chance, Neil reads it himself & it so wonderfully done
Kristen Chenoweth will be playing the goddess Easter. "I'm so excited to be reunited with my Bryan Fuller," said Chenoweth during the American Gods panel at SDCC 2016.

Neil Gaiman made an appearance for the American Gods panel. He revealed that he wrote the first chapter on the way to Comic-Con in 1999, on a three-day train journey from Chicago.
The show is designed for fans who know the whole story and newbies who won’t necessarily read the book before watching the show. Gaiman promises surprises even for readers who think they know everything about his book.

Corbin Bernsen (Psych, LA Law) has been cast to play the character Vulcan. It's said to be a "possibly" recurring role.
I still haven't read the book so it's hard for me to picture the cast in any role. I'm getting excited for the series.
What do you think about the cast so far and this new addition?
Theresa, you're our Neil Gaiman expert, are some characters quirky and others serious?
Thanks for the compliment Andrea, but I've been slacking on reading American Gods. I really need to read it before the series debuts but I haven't started it yet. I did see the photos that were released at Comic Con this year and read a bunch of articles on the actors playing the characters and from what I saw many die hard Gaiman fans are happy and impressed with who was picked and how they look in the show. I can say it looks very promising and I'm very excited to watch it. From the books of his that I have read I can honestly say he has best character development and descriptions. You really feel like you know them and can identify with their issues or problems. And since Neil is working very closely with the writers and producers and cast I feel optimistic it will be portrayed correctly. Let's hope for the best!
