Nimona is a young adult graphic novel that was nominated for the National Book Award last year (2015). It
Nimona is a young shapeshifter who is looking for a villain she can join and serve. She finds Ballister Blackheart and asks to become his sidekick. Together the work to create havoc on the kingdom but we quickly learn that villains and heroes are not quite who they seem to be.
It was funny, quirky, and very inventive. Nimona is irreverent and a great character. It was thoroughly entertaining and clever. Stevenson pokes fun at the fantasy genre and turns tropes on their head.
