He always carries a knife or gum in his boot. Outside of walking around with a bodyguard whenever he leaves home, I'm not sure what else he could do. Thank goodness Hero also carries her little pistol in her reticule.
This was the one thing that bugged me about the story. There were at least three attempts on Sebastian's life, all close calls. He never seems to be mentally rattled by them.
After his horror over (supposedly) being lover to a sister, I think Sebastian wouldn't have minded being killed. At this point, with a child expected, I would think he'd be more prepared for such attempts. I worry that Jarvis is still waiting for his chance.
It makes sense that he would be targeted now that his involvement in murder investigations is becoming more widely known. He takes the necessary precautions, and his skills and abilities (not to mention Hero's wicked aim) all serve him in good stead.
Considering his past as a soldier and the previous cases he's been involved in, it doesn't surprise me that he isn't rattled by the attacks on him. He wouldn't be such a good investigator is he allowed himself to become disconcerted by them.

I know!!! I am guessing that he thinks this is not as bad as being in the war. It really makes me nervous when he leaves his house, lol.

I think at this point he just accepts the danger as part and parcel of investigating murders. Members of the police force and the military know that danger is part of the job after all so I don't see Sebastian as being any different in this regard. And we have seen him be quite rattled when Hero was abducted in the last book. He accepts the danger for himself but it really threw him when that danger landed at Hero's feet. Thank goodness she is no damsel in distress, lol.
Yes, true. It's always harder to see your own danger. Haha, that is so right about Hero, Veronica!
