I enjoyed this one because the politics were easier to understand and therefore it was easier to try and work out the murderer. I also enjoy having more of Hero in the story.
I enjoyed this story, both for the personal progress of Sebastian and Hero's marriage, their cooperation, and hints at his parentage. I'm expecting that Hero might have to defy her father in the future.I was glad the politics were in the background, other than the manipulation of the Arthurian legend.
Loved the character development and the mystery was good. There weren't enough clues to actually figure out the murder though. The Arthurian elements were a huge bonus for me.
I always learn something from each story and this one didn't disappoint. The Arthurian legend was also a big deal for me as I didn't know its impact on British politics and culture.
There were so many potential suspects and I felt I had a shot at deducing the murderer. Hildeyard's dogged determination to find the boys was a big clue and I let it go. Something about him keeping his engagement secret bugged me. If I'd stayed with him, I might have put him higher on my list. The epilepsy was certainly a surprise.
What was extraordinary about the story was the developing relationship between Hero and Sebastian. The author is masterful in building the connections, both emotionally and intellectually. Their growing respect for each other is so obvious. Their's will have a strong foundation so that when their affection deepens, it will be believable. Kat's going to be a fond memory sooner than expected.

I have all the paperback versions so I have access to it, I was just wondering. This is one of the few series where I have the books in several different versions. :-)
